Backside and lipslides are skateboarding slides then brought to snowboarding.

situation:
Approuching a rail regular footed.
Rail on your right.

Lipslide: you would bring the tail over your board over the rail by turning 90 degrees to your left. creating an "allyoop" spin onto the rail.

Backside.: you would jump and bring your nose over the rail turning 90 degrees to the right. (most common way to enter a boardslidel)

Lipslides are spinning allyoop onto the rail or spinning the uncommon way onto it.

Lipslide with SKIS

With skis if the rail was on your right you would jump to the right but spinning to the left so bringing your tails over the rail instead of your tips.

Backslide on SKIS

You would enter rail and turn 90 degrees to right as if doing a normal grind but angling your ski tips up the mountain as grinding. So you would get the sensation that you were sliding "backwards"

On skiboards backsides and lipslides are the same thing. Backslides are grinding on the back foot only.
