I'm not sure how many of you ride the park skates or hockey skates, but i started in hockey skates about 16 years ago and never looked back.

For those familiar its was the era of the bauer tuuk rock system.
(short)(tall)(tall)(short). The wheels were all the same size but the spacer was oval shaped and could be flipped to give more height to the middle two wheels. I've always skated better than i walk so the two higher wheels gave awesome turning radiuses either forwards or backwards.

In 2000 i picked up a pair of Mission proto Vs with a hi lo chassis. I've always hated the hi lo chassis. (tall)(tall)(short)(short). All of my ice hockey skates have had tuuk chassis and so going back and forth between ice and roller has always been a re-adjusting day or two so to speak. Forward turn radiuses were just like the tuuk system but backwards turn radiuses suck!. I got used to them over time and here we are in 2010 and i've finally reached the end of the proto v's life.

I picked up a now discontinued Nike Bauer Vapor XXVR Lite skate. (med)(tall)(short)(short). I suspect it will be the last of the tuuk style chassis and rather than go for a 2010 skate (which are now back to hi lo's) i couldnt pass it up. They are an awesome ride!

I hate running so i do several miles a day of blading for cardio.

u use your hockey skates for recreational skating?

i cant do it man. I have the new missions for hockey but they are NOT comfortable. I tried doing a little jump and spin on them after hockey one day and almost broke my feet again.

For just skating why not get a regular pair of "rollerblades"?

my friend actually finally decided were gonna get back into aggressive skating so im picking up a pair of those which are better for regular skating then hockey skates.

ive always had hockey AND aggressive skates growing up.

But if they work for ya thats all good then. Ive seen those NIKE skates, they looked good

Yep, always have. my towns small enough that the farthest i ever had to go to visit a friend was 3 miles. I never got into riding bikes much so i was always on my skates. I just got into the habit of skating on what i had (the bauers). When i switched to the missions they were heavier, but i couldnt justify having a hockey skate and a recreational skate. So i bought a few sets of wheels for each activity and just did it. Jumps , spins and the like have never been a problem. I also like the stiffer boot that the higher end hockey skates give.

Next time around i'll probably do an ice skate conversion so i can keep the tuuk oneup chassis on these XXVRs.
