View Full Version : Minimum Rider height?
Now that Christmas is just round the corner I was thinking about maybe upgrading to some revel8s (ktp's). Unfortunately I am just 2 or 3" below the recommended height for non-releasables. Would that make a big difference to my safety on the mountain?
I don't want to spend lots of money on releasables because I've already got line cams.
This would of course only be temporary, next season I will definitely be tall enough.

Hey Fast. Rider height for fixed bindings is only a recommendation. If you are above average strength or very fit, this would make a difference. But fixed bindings are just that... fixed. They offer no safety features at all, so each rider must make their own decision.
But say if I caught an edge on the ktp like I recently did on my jedis, would they just stay flat on the ground and rip my knees out or would they flip my over like my jedis did without even giving me a scratch? My legs are in very good shape, and overall I'm very fit for my height/age so I think it's worth a try.
Btw Would the backcountry touring kit work fine on the ktp's if I forked out some receptors?

If you are lucky :)

Would work just fine....
Ok thanks!
Looks like my jedis will be a loaner board soon enough...
Sorry about all the questions, but would I need a special climbing skin for the wide tips of the ktp's?

I'm 2-3" shorter than the recommended height for the KTPs as well but haven't had any problems.
Ok thanks!

Hi Fast , climbing skins all come in different widths.. you just select a climbing skin to fit the waist of the skiboard you use it on ... I recommend the following online dealer
https://www.climbingskinsdirect.com/Skins.html
if you were using the KTP which has a waist of 125mm , you would select the 130mm skin and trim the waist of the skin down a bit to fit the waist of the KTP leaving a few mm of bare board on each side of the skin at the waist ...
the BTK would work just fine on the KTP ..
These skins, do they work well in wet/warm conditions?

yes , you rub some paraffin on the skins before going out each time and they don't stick or glop up in wet conditions..
