I work with video and I'd have to say I am very happy with Divx and Xvid for file size vs. quality. I've encountered some bugs (ie. artifacting) with Xvid on occasion but Divx is a rock solid codec that is light in file size making it ideal for web delivery. But that's just my opinion.

allz & ian,

how do you create your divx videos? do you have a plug-in in your video editing software (ie: premiere) that renders them as divx or do you output the file as MPEG1 or something else and then convert it to divx?

thanks,

g

Hey G- I usually work with Adobe After Effects or Discreet Combustion and export through there. If I use Premiere it's for DVD production but I'd imagine it has the same export capabilities.

Let me know what you're trying to accomplish and I can probably recommend the software to use.

Hey G, i am using that realy easy thingy Dr.DivX !!!

i've had problems with the crack version and so on :) but now it is working good.

So, i make .avi with no compresing, then i am opening it in Dr.DivX and choose how big i want the video, then, its making .avi but in DivX codec!

yo - ian - right, u can make DivX with other programs, just u need the codec installed on PC and video editing program must know that when u choose the compression way!

good luck ;)

Dr. divx...very cool Allz. It's a bit slow process but an easy program to use.
