Hi guys - I'm new to this forum (what a great resource - wish I'd found it earlier) and I'd like to get your opinions on something.

I got a pair boards late last year and they came with Tyrolia SP100 bindings. I'm pretty new at snow sports and was perfectly happy with the setup.

I just went out for the fist time this season, and unfortunately on the second day the rear piece of one binding pulled out of the board after a pretty routine fall! The dealer is willing to repair/replace them, but after reading a bit more more here, I wonder if I'd be better off removing the Tyrolias and getting a pair of Spruce bindings that fit the 4 hole inserts - assuming a local shop can fill the existing holes (which my skiing buddies think should be easy).

What do you think?

(I know you guys love the Spruces so I'm expecting a little bias here)

Thanks.

With total bias, go for the most expensive Spruce riser/binding system you can afford and it will last you a life time as you upgrade to other skiboards in the future. This assumes that your current skiboards have inserts in a 4x4 cm pattern.

BTW: Since you are in SF, you should join us for riding at SL Tahoe: http://www.skiboardsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11101&p=111618#post111618
I hope you can make it.

Your buddies are right, it would be easy and routine for a pro shop (or competent do-it-yourselfer) to plug the old mounting holes. You wouldn't be the first rider to have discarded direct-mount release bindings on your skiboards, retrofitted with Spruce risers, and been happy with the result.

Some of us here are so fanatic that we've removed conventional bindings from hybrid-type skis without factory inserts and installed our own inserts so we could use Spruce risers interchangeably.
