View Full Version : The Past, Present and Future…
The Past:
Let me take a moment to reflect on the past and first season of Mix. Our intentions going into the 2004-2005 season were to give skiboarding a fresh new look and feel. We produced designs and sizes unthought-of in the industry. Unfortunately our dreams didn’t live up to our expectations. Our manufacturer let us down several times; quality and quantity, thereby letting you down. We still take 100% of the responsibility to bring the riders exactly what they want, however that did not happen. We let you down. Creating a skiboard manufacturing company from scratch is no easy task.
The Present:
•New Factory: we have currently switched OEM’s to a proven industry leader, bringing us a streamlined high quality product.
•Made in the USA: Comprised of only the top materials available in the industry, giving us unmatched and unsurpassed quality.
•Newly added employees: more reliable, more dedicated, more intelligent, giving us an additional aerospace engineer and a wood technology specialist.
•Dedicated Customer Service: online help-desk, phone answering service, dedicated customer service email.
The Future:
Mix Skiboards as you know it will no longer exist. Our new skiboard company will be what we dreamed of. Things are already falling into place. We are breathing fresh air deep into our lungs now. Dealers will be receiving early production boards in advance to determine if the quality lives up to their standards. The name "Epic (http://www.epicskiboards.com)" will not appear on any product that has not been rigorously tested and lived up to our strict quality control standards.
We thank you for your continued support...

Glad to hear things look better. What about Mix boards that are still under warranty though? I was one of the lucky ones and got most of the season out of my ALP's but now am I looking at having to buy a set of new boards?
Great boards by the way. Horrible customer support, but great product. I hope this next venture is fruitful for you and in turn the community and sport.

It's a new season. We'll have entirely new graphics. We'll be pushing the limits of skiboard graphics even further. We have some unbelievable artists on board with Epic. You'll be impressed.

All I know is you've got a LOT to prove at this point.
With that said (and brutally honest here), I wish you the very best of luck and if Epic's initial year goes well and the product lives up to industry standards than I might be on board for your sophmore season. We definitely appreciate the attempt as any core skiboard manufacturers attempt is better than us being snubbed off.
The best of luck !!

Everyone fallin for it hook, line, and sinker again. Just remember what happened last time. Everything seemed promising and on the level. It might be good this time but I wouldnt be so stoked for someone who screwed a lot of people the first time around. I'm not sayin epic is not on the level but I would not start jumping at their products so easily either. I dunno....just my opinion about the situation that was created by mix. Are we in for a repeat?

We are not asking anyone to believe in us yet, not even our riders. We refuse to even sign riders until they have seen the Epic boards and approve of them themselves. Dealers will also receive boards within a month or so to see if they live up to their quality standards.
I hope you do question our production. We are here to earn your respect, nothing is given or taken easily. We are doing everything in our power to make things right. Great post PureVenom.
No gimmicks...

PV is right. Only a mug gets bitten by the same dog twice, but this time there are differences. By last Christmas, all we had from Mix was hype. No one had boards, and almost no one had ridden them. If Epic is on the level, we will begin to see posts from people who have had their Mix issues resolved, there will be test boards around, and hopefully, retailer driven reviews. By Oct/Nov, retailers will be offering boards from stock, and somewhere on those boards it will say "Made in the USA".
Hopefully, the range will be as comprehensive and as innovative as before, and a private email to said retailers will confirm Epics seeming commitment to better service.
If all that happens, which is no more than promised, I'm in!

Is Epic going to be using the same Specs as the Mix boards or are you coming out with some new ones?
Epic Skiboards
05-12-2005, 12:43 PM
Sames sizes, yes.
And just so you know, the Fusion and Core did actually say "Made in the USA" on them. We did not put them on the Pro's boards because we did not want to compromise the look.
We are not looking for hype, we are just looking to keep you informed. Please remember, we are trying to help this sport.

Thats great that you are trying to help the sport...we need it. Just make sure it's a quality product this time around. Take care of the people. We don't want to make people leary of ALL new companies coming out. Some of the damage has been done already but we need good NEW companies if we are to survive. In every aspect of the sport...not just boards. So...good luck and do the right thing and be true to the people no matter what.
Seth -
I'm very glad to see you are honoring the warranties and starting fresh. I had basically resigned to the fact that I would be out the money and bitter against Mix. I hope all goes much better this time. I LOVED the way Mix boards rode. I can't wait to see what Epic has for us.

I was one of the unlucky ones that had my ALP's delaminate after three days of riding. I previously sent you several letters and emails and was finaly contacted in March and told that I would be receiving replacements. I have heard nothing since. In addition we were promised Mix Skiboard T-Shirts when we preordered and I never received. I am very happy to hear that you will be once again making boards as the ALP's were fantastic! (while they held together). I am also happy to hear that customer service is a new priority however, I made a warranty claim, I was promised replacement skis and no one has contacted me since. That seems like old times.

I wonder whether 2006 will bring any news, or boards, from Epic/Mix...
