Anyone have any suggestions? I am not real good at inline but I want to try a grind for the first time. I mean I can skate but as far as trying to land tricks I feel really unstable. Like I am gonna fall forward or backwards very easily. Much different than skiboards for me. I am not real thrilled at the idea of a face plant so I thought I would ask some of you what I should try to grind for the first time and how to approach it...and how to stop after that...lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

dont be afraid to fall it is part of learning. one word of advice if u start to fall becareful trying to catch your self. i broke my arm 2 years ago speed skating (fell and tried to catch myself)

it is mostly mental. once u land some stuff a few times it is easier to do it

i know it sounds stupid but over time you learn to fall so it doesnt hurt. basically just start on a small rail go slow then progress to higher stuff and so on

Yeah..I know how to fall right. I am a skateboarder that wants to inline. So I have had my share of broken this and that until I learned how to fall correctly. Should I approach the rail just like I do on skiboards or what?

no you shouldnt that was the biggest mistake for me the best thing i did is make sure you ankles are somewhat loose and hit every thing on like 30 to 45 degree angle and wax the shit out of it they dont slide as easy as skateboards and then the last thing the trick..... i started out with a simple soul and i started bout month ago and i can do 4 grinds coming out normal and switch and also 1 swtich up........ and some advice frontside and backside slide a lot quicker that expected.....

post up on if you do roll

Don't know...what should I try first? I don't have much around my house. The local park has some decent curbs and benches. I thought it might be better to start on the nice painted curbs but then I realize I am not skateboarding so that might not be such a wise choice. I dunno.....what do you think?

Painted curbs are real good to start on. They take a lot more wax than skateboards to get a good grind, so you'll prolly have to wax it a lot tho.

On the topic of waxing - Where and how do you apply the wax? I got a puck of wax with the XSJADO frames I ordered. Do I need to wax these frames? Still using the frames that came with my skates but I'm getting ready to start grinding. Still getting my "wheel-legs" back but I'm getting close!

Wax the hell out of the curb or whatever you are going for(unless its a metal rail than disregard). Heavily coat right on the edge and the top of it. At least that hos I used to do it for skateboarding. I assume its pretty much the same.

Found some cool tips at this link

Yup. It's been YEARS since I've done this and the equipment is so different than what I had. I tried getting on skates again a few years back and couldn't get out of the habit of digging into my heels to slow up as you would on snow. Spent a lot of time throwing myself 90 degrees and smacking into fences. Good times.

Yeah...my skates arent the best. I know there is better inlines now for sure. They work okay but I am not used to them fully yet. I still get a bit squirly stopping and turning. I keep trying to ride them like skiboards. That doesnt work too good. Im gonna try thos tips from the link I put up for sure. Sounds much safer than just blazing full bore and tring to grind something.
