View Full Version : Lifting FF Pros?

I'm getting excited for the season to start up and I was thinking about trying to get my boots up a bit higher off my boards this year. I'm not a huge park rider, but I love to ride fast and carve low turns. My FF Pros are a bit on the low side for carving. I don't have the cash to spring for a new pair of bindings (as much as I'd love a pair of lifted Bombers), so, I'm thinking it shouldn't be that hard to make some sort of lifter for the FF Pros. I was looking at the design of the Bombers and noticed that the part of the binding that actually contacts the board is just a disc around the mounting screws. So, if I swap out the 1/4" thick rubber piece that normally sits underneath my binding and replace it with, say, a 1/2"-5/8" thick aluminum plate (with holes for the mounting screws of course), that should work pretty well, right? There are those plastic bits that sit underneath the toe and heel of the Bombers though. Has anyone ever tried riding a pair without those bumpers in place? Does it ruin the ride? Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone more mechanically inclined than me can come up with a good solution...

Anyone have any ideas about this? Am I gonna get myself into trouble trying this? A couple of materials sourcing questions on the same subject: (maybe Greco or Jeff Singer would be able to answer these):
Where can I find longer screws to fit skiboard mounting holes? I'm guessing they aren't really a hardware store kind of item. And how about that rubber stuff that the bindings mount on top of, any idea where I might find that?
Thanks to anyone with any ideas on the subject...

home depot should have screws that would work, just match up the thread types. as for rubber pieces i think i got some once at a hardware store, it came in a big piece and had to be cut, i think. we stay away from modify products away from the way the manufacturer intended as this opens us up to potential liability issues.

you;d have to make sure that the ends of the bindings don't hit hard on the board or they will get damaged, some kind of rubber would work, and you could probably find longer screws at a sports shop.

Line actually made risers for the FF cam and pro bindings. I snagged a set on ebay last year for $10. All it is though is a piece of rubber and 4 screws so a Home Depot trip would be just as good.
