Yesterday I got my first chance to try out the Rockered Condors. I was planning to hate them after reading some of the reviews on here. Hate, NO WAY! I freakin' love these boards!! They are an absolute blast. I had no problems with them at all. They rode like a dream, and I didn't really need to change up my riding style much. I may have been a little more gorilla than usual. :)
I just can't believe how fun these fat boards are. They spin so effortlessly and riding fakie is much easier. I rode BWPs for a couple hours before trying the RC's out. The RC's actually seemed like smaller boards in a weird way because of how easy they were to skate and spin. I am so pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy the RC's. I can't see why anyone would dislike them.
Now I didn't get to test them out on ice. The runs were groomed corduroy mostly with small stashes of powder here and there. Maybe I'd feel differently about the RC's if I got them on ice. Even if they do suck on ice, there are still too many others reasons to love them.
I think it was jjue who said the Rockered Condors will be the future of skiboarding. I don't know if this is true or not, but I think they should be the future. They are the total package.

Here my wife and I are on the lift. She's trying out her new pair of Slapdashs for the first time. Verdict - she loved them! I'm rockin' the RC's (my new go-to boards for this season).

Oh, I saw a boarder on Chickens with Spruce risers and bindings. I never was able to talk to this person. If you were at Trollhaugen Christmas day, give a shout.

Here is a short video. Now the quality isn't great. It was shot with a little Canon Digital Elph camera, and I put it together with software that I just used for the first time only a couple hours ago. It's very rough.

Sempai,
You ride those great! I am baffled as to why they were so uncomfortable for me to ride.
Thanks Sempai,, great video ... your form is absolutely perfect for the Rockered Condor, you look very comfortable and look like you are having a blast ! your form and the form I think works best on this skiboard is what I call a skate style as opposed to a tall skier style , IMHO , the RCondor does best ridden this way , I think you will have an absolutely fantastic time this season ! Have fun !!

Wendell, as I mentioned in my Love/Hate thread .. the type of conditions a person first rides on the RCondor makes a big difference .... I do think that Sempai had nicer conditions then you and I had at Northstar this last week ... we have had seriously icy slopes of late , riding those , does take more adjustment then riding softer snow ... I do think you hit on the issues , being centered and more gorilla stance and lower then we usually ride and with some pressure more toward the tips then carving off the back is important ... and as I have pointed out , especially , on very icy slopes praticing the sliding turn and getting off the edge and riding a less severe edge angle is much less tiring then trying to find that edge on icy snow .. .

I am amazed that you managed to spin like that. I have never been able to achieve that - it just ends up being little bunny hops.

Thanks everybody for the positive feedback so far.

Last season I took a nasty fall spinning on a steeper run when conditions were slushy. I bruised a couple ribs. It was ugly. Now that I know how to create videos, I'm going to create one from vid and pics taken last season up in the U.P. It will have my fall on it.

I've roller skated since I was a kid and still do, plus I do get out and inline skate in the summer. I have pretty good balance from skating and karate, hence the name "sempai".
Sempai,on another thread Bill asked if you had tried out the regular Condor, if memory serves me right you tried it ?,if so maybe you can give us your comparison...
Whoops, just read your PM,you tried the Ktp and didn,t like the width but haven't tried the regular condor....and wonder what the regular condor would be like,
IMHO the currently available 2011standard orange condor is way stiffer then the flexible RCondor and also stiffer then the original condor models, it turns and rides very similarly to a longer version of the ktp, fans of the Ktp would feel right at home, my prediction is that the way you have taken to the R condor you would way prefer the version you have...

Sent from my MID7012 using TapatalkNope, never tried them. I was always leary of the width. When the Rockered Condor came out, the graphics sold me. I know that sounds silly, but it's true. Plus, I was curious to see what this rockered stuff was all about.

Sempai, you ride those rockered Condors like an old pro! Your success gives me fresh hope that I will enjoy them, there might be something to "skate-style" riding. I came from a skating (ice hockey) background and found skiboards intuative from the get-go. One thing about skating, especially hockey skates with their extreme rocker, you get used to zero fore-aft support to lean on. I did try a pair of the original Condors but found them awkward compared to 120's and the like.

Absolutely awesome Sempai! And compared to the 98's, they don't look as wide as I thought...
Great stuff!

I had my second time out on the Rockered Condors last night. Conditions weren't great, very bumpy hard pack with patches of ice. I've got to admit that I wasn't as impressed with the RC's in these conditions. The RC's weren't terrible, but I wasn't feeling them as much as my first time out on mostly groomed runs. Later in the night I switched to ALPs. They seemed to ride a little smoother over the bumps, but they were even sliding out on the icy patches. The whole night really wasn't a pleasant experience on either boards.
