Hello folks:
My name is Reiner and I'm new to this board posting from San Diego, and hope to find some answers from you. I am a skier and my wife not, thats my problem. She tried to pick it up last year but a nazi type perfectionist instructor ruined it. All what we want is to find a way to get down the mountain and have fun. So I came across skiboards but never had the opportunity to try them. I'm thinking they much easier to learn on and have instant fun. Is this true? I also could see myself riding them too.
Thanks for your help, any advise is greatly appreciated.

Reiner,

Welcome to the heart of skiboarding :)

I think skiboards would be perfect for your wife since they are very easy to control and hence easy to learn and begin having fun on pretty early. No worries about keeping your tips apart or polls to fuss with, just stand up and go. A very good pair of boards at a very low price are the SnowJam 75's (http://www.skiboardsonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=snjm_05_75&Category_Code=onsalenow). These are some of the shortest skiboards made which will be the easiest for your wife to learn on. Also, since they are wood core with a wide design and high quality all metal bindings you can ride them hard and not have to worry about them letting you down.

Good luck,

Greco

That was quick, thanks Greco.
My wife is 5'2" and I'm 5'10" 220lbs.(pure power, I swear), what board would fit both of us or is it better not to mix? I also think about ordering your Video for a start.

Reiner,

Since you're so BIG and strong ;) and I imagine an experienced skier you'd do best on 99 - 120cm boards where you're wife, because of her size and experience, really would benefit on starting on 75's however because she's over 5', but not by much, she could go up to 90cm's. If you wanted release bindings however she could go longer but then it would be a bit more difficult for her to pick up the sport quickly. You could still enjoy the shorter boards just long enough to figure out if you want to invest in a pair for yourself. I for instance, am 6'1", 200 and i started on 76cm boards my first season (all that was available back them). I had a blast on 'em and progressively went longer as they became available.

Please keep posting any questions you have.

Greco, I took your advice and ordered the sno jam 75 last night. Thanks for your help and I hope this will do the trick. Reading some of the posts I have the feeling they are a good choice. First I was considering the Solomon 99 w/ releasable C609 binding, but release or not release may not be a biggy on skiboards.
So long and I will let you know how it goes, if I like them too I may be back for my pair.
