I posted a little about this last year, but haven't gotten any of my gear yet. I'm looking into getting it very soon, but still need some advice.

I'm 5'2, 105 pounds and from the last reply, Greco advised that I "shouldn't go longer than 90cm unless you're going to use releasable bindings. so if you're using non release bindings i would suggest 90cm boards by canon, mix and snowjam - all are wood core and very well made."

Alright so along those lines, are there any major changes for this year?

With the board:
I'm looking into getting a board that'll last me at least a couple of seasons. What brands or models and length (75-90) are the best for quality, learning, and advancing? If it matters, I do have experience skating, skiing and snowboarding.

With the boots:
Same, pretty much, I want something that'll last and won't hold me down from advancing. What brands/ models do you guy recommend and where do you go to get them?

With bindings:
I still don't know about releasable or non-releasable. Releasable bindings seem more convenient, but non-releasable bindings seem better for performance. Any brand/model advice would help.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Edit: I'm thinking of getting the Canon Heritage with Bomber Elite bindings, and is there anything I should be watching out for with the boots?

Greco's advice sounds good in terms of board choice. He might suggest Epic's new boards since they have a new manufacturing company doing their boards now.

I don't know much about boots, but I have read that the boots sold here are awesome.

I was also worried about releasable bindings because of the performance, so that's why I went with non-releasable bindings. Hopefully I won't hurt myself.

Depending on the funds that you are looking at spending, I'd suggest the Canon Heritage 90cm boards with bomber bindings. I personally have never had an issue with non-releasable bindings, and if you say with shorter boards it probably won't be a big problem for you either. If you can afford them, I have heard only great things about the Deeluxe boots that G sells on here. They have tons of fine tuning settings as well as a thermofit liner. If you can't spring for the high end boots, just try to find a comfortable pair of boots that have a good amount of flex and a mostly upright stance.

I'd definately say the canon heritage or snowjam 90s. 90cm would be a great size for your height.

If you can't afford the deeluxes Greco also has Raichle 4 buckle boots that are pretty much the same thing without the thermo liner for $250 cheaper.

a lot of people have an issue with non release bindings due to the rumor that more injuries occur with them. This isnt exactly true. for more info on it you can search the internet for info on snowsport injury statistics.

the thing you must remember that any sport is prone to injury and you must way your consequences. skiboarding by far is less dangerous then snowboarding. with skiboarding the main injuries you have to deal with are knee and head.

my recomendation would be to by yourself a nice helmet and just make your descision with release or nonrelease according to what your comfortable with. Definately if you go with releasables go with spruce. Personally i love my bomber bindings.

The size of the board would all be a preference. the bigger the board the easier it is to land a jump because you can center your weight easier.

Anyways wecome to the sport of skiboarding. hope to see you sometime at something like the trip to mt creek.

That's why I went with the decision to buy a helmet and wear it even though it might have to take some time to get used to it, but my head is important to me. :)

What kind of helmet do you use? Is it full face? Mine is, so I have to get used to the whole thing covering my face, but I think I will be fine. Do you have any problems with the helmet moving around on your head when going off jumps and landing? I'm also afraid of that happening. I haven't tried it on yet, because I ordered from college and haven't gone home yet to try it on, but I made sure it was the size of my head.

I found this pic online, its the same as mine except mine has no scratches and more stickers and mine is black. Ive never seen on that covers the full face, unless you mean like a dirt bike helmet or something.

It moves around my head sometimes on landings or when i fall, but a quick tightening on the lift up does the trick.

My helmet looks like a dirt bike helmet, but it was sold as a snow helmet. So it is suited for the snow. I bought it off www.dogfunk.com and it was on sale from $100 to $60. I bought the second to last one, so it's not on the site so that I can show you how it looks like. If I find a pic, I will post it.

I found a saved copy of the web page in pdf format with the helmet on my computer. So here it is...

I know the flame can be looked as lame, but I like it and it was cheap! You will recognize me on the slopes too. :p
