I was checking my bases when i was packing up to leave Copper and I noticed that the edge (metal bound egde) was separating from the base. it's about 3 inches or so long on the tail, maybe more, but i don't want it to totally rip off. I got them just over a year ago, so i bet a one year warranty would have just run out (don't even know if it came with that). I've also got a problem with a screw that I can't get off to put on new bindings. I may be able to fix that, but don't want to strip the hell out of it. Sounds like I need a skiboard doctor. I may be able to fix it, me being an engineer and all, but didn't want to mess it up too bad and not be able to properly fix it.

i don't really know what those scratches are, but my other board doesn't have them.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it until the edge starts separating from the board at a part where the edge comes in contact with the snow. But I tend to lack a certain thing called common sense when it comes to personal safety, so I don't know how good my advice is. As for the screw, I really don't know what to tell you. I have the same problem, but I kind of like it because it prohibits me from dropping any more dinero into my boards to upgrade bindings.

see, but I have a pair of Spruce Risers, so I really *need* to change them, for my own safety (I actually go see the doc later today to see if he'll release me to go skiboarding again ;) ) We have some sort of device that kinda eats the screw out, like from the head, but I don't know what will happen to the bindings.
Maybe i just need a really big screwdriver
As for the boards, I keep them in a bag, and the two boards actaully never touch in transit, so it must have happened when I was boarding.
Doesn't good Ole WD 40 work?

just make sure you use the right size screw driver to get the screw out ... unless it's totally frozen. Then I would venture to say that you need to muscle it out with some kind of contraption. Easy-out, etc...
Definitely need to make the change before skiboarding anymore.

any other suggestions for the base?
Duct tape?
;)
I was concerned with this because moisture could get up inside and may damage the core. I don't know, but it's my engineering instinct to think of all of the possibilities

if u don't care about the risers or are going to replace them i would take a saw and cut throught the riser and the bolt. as for the base get some water proof sealant put it in there, not sure if that'd work but i think it would, just smooth it out
doubt that helps
how about putting some p-tac along the back edge to seal the gap/protect your core. Maybe that will give the edge a little more life. Just drill through the screw. Those are alot easier to replace than the entire binding.

I finally got my bindings mounted! I had to drill out the screw, but it wasn't too bad. Hopefully I'll get to try them soon!
