i got a pair of groove skywalkers a few years back and im putting some groove bindings on them after my old ones broke 2 years ago can anyone tell me if groove boards or bindings are decent, anything i should be wary of. i dont want a repeat of my cannon bindings (ripped right off halfway down the hill and i had to chase them, not fun) thanks for any info.

ive ridden my groove retros with groove X1 bindings 3 times, with excellent results. Good luck finding them though...groove products are near extinct

Personally I find canon bindings to be better than the groove x-11's. The groove x-11's have a really large contact area with no flex in the boards, the rubber underneath doesn't absorb hardly any vibrations, the toe clips eat away at boots, and my x-11's actually have a slight upward bend in the baseplate from there being nothing to absorb the bending of the boards. My Canon Thias bindings have been nice for me. How did yours rip off? did your boots just come out, or did the binding break, or did they pull out of the boards? Depending on which of those problems it is it either may have been a manufacturing problem or it may be easily fixable. If you are looking for a good pair of cheap bindings go with the SnowJam Extreme II's. If you are looking to upgrade and get a nicer pair pay the extra bit to get the Line FFPro's.

When you say ripped right off the boards...it kinda makes me think you had 8 hole bindings. Is this the case or were they 4 hole bindings that were just not in tight or ???

To clarify what happened with my bindings. I had a pair of cannon bindings (cant remember the model specifically 4 hole mount, I was told they were good quality and they rode excellently). What happened was that 3 of the 4 screws that held on the heel piece ripped right out of the aluminum plate while I was riding. It didn't take long for the last screw then to wiggle its way loose and the whole heel piece came off. I of course had my leash attatched to the heel piece and had to chase my board all the way down to the lift. Im not sure weather this was a bad binding or if im just cluless as to the maintenance of it, but a similar thing happened with one of my sisters bindings (same type of binding her toe piece came out). I even had a few different ski shops do some quick repairs and none of them lasted, all the employees seemed as clueless as I am. Anyone know why this happend, cause I still have a pair of those bindings but I dont want to use them until i figure out what happened last time. Thanks

sounds like either your screws where stripped, or the inserts where stripped.

I believe it was that the insert was stripped, how should I prevent that from happeneing again, what did I do wrong.

the inserts are in the board, not the binding.. so you're gonna have to have them re-threaded or somethin....
