i recently bought a pair of the spruce riser bindings and groove BG's. first time out with the risers and i am slipping and slidding all over the place. absolutely can not hald an edge. turns out that my boot is flexing within the binding and there is not energy transfer to the edge. this morning i mounted a old line binding to the boards and no problem on the slopes.
i think that the shop that adjusted the risers to the boot did a piss-poor job, because under no circumstances should the boot move around inside the binging. they removed a lot of plastic from the binding, most notably the t-bar at the toe piece.
was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

it must have been the poor adjustment job. i had mine adjusted by a professional ski tech and they worked fine, they felt just like i was riding my releasables except the bindings released when i crashed hard.

The initial setup was done by Jeff Singer himself (just for boot size) but I did the DIN settings myself. I'm certainly not a pro shop employee....but mine are fine. Performed fine and they released as expected. I also run mine in Type III at 220lbs. I ride pretty hard and agressive. If you have set them light than I can see how the boot would lose stability.

Re-address your settings. Spruce Ski sends instruction on how to set them up. If you follow them, they should be fine and you shouldn't have to take them to a shop.

i've since heard this person resolved this issue, it was a problem with the adjustments made by the ski shop. the spruce bindings/riser continues to be the absolute best releasable solution for skiboards, hands down. if you're worried about using non-release bindings these are the best alternative.
