hey check this out...would stiffening the board really improve handling?

also, are there any plans to mod brakes onto the spruce risers? maybe im just a lazy bastard but them leashes on skiboards are a real hassle.
thanks all for the tip on mt. creek. went there this past weekend...the trails were ok...didnt get the fresh powder as forecasted. the place was packed though...frickin snowboarders lyin around all over the place like human moguls.
The guy who makes those was up at tremblant this weekend, and the ones he was showing had brakes on them.
Looks to me like that would deaden the board, no flex left. They kinda look like they're from 1980...

I wouldn't touch those with a ten foot pole. No warranty or gauruntee? I don't think so. Use at your own risk...no suprise.
Yes, Spruce Bindings can be modified to have brakes. As it's been said, Jeff Singer's boards have brakes. The only problem with that is that some boards, like BG's that are substantially wider than the riser setup, pretty much are not going to accept the width. Brake systems just aren't that variable and being that the bindings that the spruce riser uses are basically ski bindings mounted on skiboards, you can safely say that they wont fit on wider board sets. I'm happy just clipping leashes over having to break my own back to snap toe clips. Trust me, the board doesn't go very far when they pop...and no, you don't get clubbed or sliced to death as you come to a stop.

Jeff is working on an optional brake for the Spruce riser/bindings now. I'll post as soon as we have them.

Salomon makes a wide brake (for their twin tip skis) that fits on the Spruce Riser fine. I've tested it with Line Pro's, M7's and SnowJam 90's. It is a bit tight on the SnowJams as they are a wide board at the waist (112mm), but they work fine on the other boards. Someone (Greco?) will have to try them on BG Pro's, but I think they will work OK.
One downside of these is the price. They retail for $40 to $45. The other is that you get to walk (or crawl) back up the hill when you get a release. Having done this at Tremblant last weekend in 10 below weather, I was wishing for my leashes.
I've ordered some brakes and SBOL can offer them as options when they come in.
