View Full Version : cheapest skiboards
I've been skiing for one season and im getting a set of skis soon. but since im going to have the boots i wanted to try skiiboarding sincei heard you can use ski boots with them. i want to know what the best beginner size skiboard is and is skiboarding really hard to learn. also is it really diffrent than skiing? im mostly concerned about price so it would be nice to get the cheapest setup possible. thanks
For best price, get the snowjam 90s. They're a killer deal and are one of the better boards out there. Definately a huge step above anything else in a comparable price range.

The cheapest possible setup you can get would be the Spruce Flyer's with the Spruce Riser bindings. This will be a little over 200. These boards are good for carving on groomed runs and such, but won't perform too well in other conditions. If you want boards that will perform well all over the mountain get the SnowJam 90cm boards (or 75cm depending on your height/weight) with the quick adjust bindings would be the cheapest way to go.

i'm 6'1" and started on 76cm boards and had a great time that first year plus you said cheapest was your biggest concern however you could go with 90's 90's (http://www.skiboardsonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=snjm_scorpion_90&Category_Code=skiboards)
for $235.00. probably would be better for your height if you want to go fast, carve, ride park or powder. if you really want hyper manueverability and more of an inline skate feel then the 75's would be better.

I've seen a few comments on here recommending against going for eBay (apparently it can be unreliable in the US?), but I've picked up some Line Jedis and some Line Mick Nick Pros on eBay (in the US). Jedis (90cm) go for about $100, sometimes a bit more if they're in good condition. MNPs go for more, but it depends on the condition and the bindings. I got some for $140 but they were a bit dinged.
Great boards though, especially for the money.

Ive only been skiboarding for 2 weeks. but i come from an aggressive inline background, so im more of a trick guy. I rented 90cm, salomons the first time out, they felt long and awkward. then rented the 61cm salomon minigroms the next time. they felt like home.
I loved them so i bought a pair of 60cm minigroms at discount for 70 bucks. ive been on those for a few days and i ordered the snowjams 75cm on ebay for 100 dollars total.
cant wait to get em.
ebay definetely has alotta boards to choose from.

i rented my first pair at the same place i think - they were last years model snojam 75s had a blast - dont let them rent you saloman's.
the guy there just didnt like the idea of nonreleasable bindings - i knew thats what i wanted (true skiboards - not short skis)
you should have a blast w them!!!
lee
ps BMWguy - i would presume you drive a BMW - if so what flavor? i got a tricked Z3.

Lee,
I am planning on going to Mt. High this weekend depending if I recover from my sickness (flu). I am so tempted to buy boards and boots from Ebay but I want to see if I'd like it or not. My friends are going snowboarding.
I have a 1998 M3 with an AA Turbo kit. However, the engine is blown and is at the shop.
My dad drives a 2002 M3 with SMG. Him and I share that car.
you'll like it dude i promise.
yeah well i won the auction for the snowjam 75's and thell probably be here by monday. i'll tell you guys what i think
