Free Time: Techniques for Modern Freeheel Skiing DVD Review. Another of the long list of excellent DVD's by Unparalleled Productions and is a very useful instructional video for even the skiboarder. In fact this flick even showcases a skiboarder being pulled behind a car. Better than what Poor Boyz does with skiboarders in any case. Freeheel skiers must get the top prize for guts and glory in my book. They do the same things as twin tippers, snowboarders and skiboarders but only with their feet half loose and flopping around. One clip shows how to do a high speed switch and ride fakie on telemark equipment. Then it goes on to discuss how to carve fakie while doing it freeheel...amazing!

This DVD has lots of high altitude hucks and big mountain freeheel skiing to accompany the instruction. And while I do not freeheel myself, other than some light XC work, I have picked up many pointers that can be applied to my skiboarding big mountain and for basic tricks. If you are interested in freeheel skiing, then this DVD starts at the beginning and takes you as far as you wish to go. Great section on advanced tricks as well they spend much time on detailed and clear instructions throughout. Highly recommend DVD for your collection and edification.

BTW, for those skiboarders that worry about non release bindings on your 90's...the telemark crowd mainly operates with non release bindings...but they skiing on non release boards double your length. Does it mean you are 100% safe with non release on your short boards? No, but you can be thankful you are not a freeheelers if you worry about it a lot.
