Is it possible to get snowboard bindings on skiboards or get regular snowboard softboots onto skiboards... If so how and where can I get this done to my skiboards?

.......I saw a post on SBOL in '03 for a snowboard binding mounting kit but no one sells them anymore. I would think that this would be a more popular route than ski boots for skiboards just because the whole inline influence.

The 4x4 pattern on most quality skiboards is the same 4x4 pattern found on snowboard bindings. This means that you could just put the bindings on yourself same way you would any other bindings. The Miller Z Interface is what I think you are refering to, and that was designed as a snowboard release binding, but because skiboards have the same pattern they were an option for releasable skiboard bindings back them. People have talked about mounting snowboard bindings and using soft boots but most people have come to the consensus that they would not provide enough ankle support to be safe or ride well. I wouldn't reccomend trying it, but if you really really want to find out if it works, it would be possible.

The whole softboot craze with inline, specifically brands like remz and deshi is that they have an internal structure that acts like a cuff. I don't know how snowboard boots work, but they seem kinda flimsy, so it makes sense that to use skiboards, you would want to use something like a hardboot like old hard shelled rollerblades rather than a soft snowboard boot. Besides, why would you want to use snowboard boots with skiboards?

Because out here in Southern California, the population of snowboarders to skiers is about 10 to 1.

Being able to use boots and bindings they already own would make it a lot more attractive for the ex-snowboarder (like me) to go to skiboards, and.....

it shows them how closely the two sports are related.

The setup is simple-find a 1" solid block plate, a thin piece of rubber, and 8 long allen screws to raise the height of the snowboard binding and you can ride it just like that.

It does look strange-snowboard bindings are wider and bulkier than the skiboard bindings (hard snowboard binding setup) but its lighter and more flexible.

Be careful-the added flexibility can hurt you if you're not careful.

Much thanks for answering my questions….

In response to my reason for using snowboard boots on skiboards is mainly because I actually do own Deshi DK4's which is a soft boot skate and I've talked to a lot of friends that roll as well as snowboard and they think that snowboard boots would feel much more like skating than ski boots (I do see the support problem) but I think the benefits outweigh the negatives. Feel free to add any other comments about doing a set up with snowboard bindings because I'm all for suggestions.

Thanks again,
kaz

hey man, it's good to see more rollers joining in. I skate remz so I'm used to the whole soft boot technology within rollerblading. I actually tried on a bunch of hard ski boots and they're pretty comfortable. Stiff, but comfortable. Then again, from what I've seen in videos and pictures, skiboarding doesn't require you to have flexible boots like rollerblading does. If you find a way to set up your skiboards with snowboard boots post a review or something. I'd definitely be interested in seeing the end result.

I had a pair of skiboards set up with snowboard boots for a while. It really didn't work for general riding, and they were terrible for jumps, but it let me do souls on the edges of the bindings. Thats about the only thing they were good for.
