does anyone have the cruise tools or apetorches because i want to know how they perform because i am planning on getting a new pair for next season, this year i was using a pair of snowjam 90's.so i just need some reviews from someone.i need a pair of skiboards that will take me through the parks and that will perform good on trails.

the cruise tools are very, very stiff. if you hit more rails then jumps i would say to get them, unlike the revel 8's though they are not sidewall construction. branden has them (subarupride) i'm sure he'll tell you about them, he likes them alot

i think they are well constructed and should last a long time.
also they are super wide if you like that kind of shape in your board. i like a more aggressize sidecut with a thinner waist.

I just got the cruise tools and will be trying them out this Friday up at Big Bear... here they are in comparison to my bud's Revolts

the apetorches are more park and groomed oriented, and a little more forgiving flex wise then the CT-8's which are more of an all mountain and powder board.

I'd just like to have it noted that the CT8s are fabolous for groomed runs. Carve like madness :)

But yeah, the Apetorches have a little softer flex than the CT8/El Bajong.

They certainly are fabulous. I'm a big guy, 6'2" 245, so I don't notice the stiffness that much, but it certainly comes in handy while carving. I definitely recommend these boards to anyone!

I ride the CT-8's. they are deff the steez. they are mad stable on the rails. float powder like champs and stomp landings like a king. they are a little stiff and a little bit on the wider side. but they are deffinitly my favorite. i used to ride the Brinton's. they were softer. once i got on the ct-8's i went from jumper to grind masta. they are smooth on rails. very stable and easier to tail and nose press due to stiffness. jumps they good on decent sizes and smaller jumps. for big jumps they are a little stiff for landings so you gotta make sure u land in the right position. so far i have beat the snot out of mine, just today i rode over about 30 feet of grass and rocks and not a single scratch on the base amazingly. the edges havent pulled neither have they delam'd. if you want apetorch info ask Dave Lynam, those are his boards.

i gather the cruise tool is a better ski for all round use being less stunt specific than the apetorch? is the stiffness of the cruise tool more suited to a heavier rider or better stability at speed?

the ct-8s will definatly hold a larger rider then the apetorch.

they both sound sick, considering im bigger on rails then i am on jumps. im getting more into jumps tho.
i dont really like the way the flat nose and tail look on revel8's or on the apetorches. id prolly go with the cts

if i might, i tried branden's CT8s and I wasn't a big fan of them. I felt they were too heavy, too stiff, and too wide to manuever effectively. of course they have never (ever) been waxed so that added to the problem but i like my boards kinda flexy with some pop some i'd say apetorch. they are nice on rails though.

I think if you want to experience the flex you get from the Revolts or the old MNPs you will have to be pretty heavy to get that from the CT8s. Even at 245lb they still feel pretty stiff for me, and like whitedime said, the wideness may make them feel unmanageable. They feel fine for me, but for smaller people, they might be a bit too wide.

Riding wide boards is a different technique than riding normal boards. The key to riding wide boards is to truely carve instead of just riding it. If you're having issues with them I'd suggest trying to get or make some risers for your bindings. The extra height will help you to actually roll the boards onto the edges instead of just trying to turn on them. It's the same type of thing as if you go from taller bindings to shorter ones. You just have to get used to how to move your weight. Loken put out multiple boards for the different reasons you need. The CT8's are stiff because they're an all mountain board. Apetorches have a bit more flex since they're park boards. You'll find the exact same thing in snowboards. All mountain are longer and stiffer, park are shorter and have more flex. Personally I think it is great that we have a company that is specializing instead of trying to make one specific type of boards or just all around boards.

You have a sid pic to show the cap/sidewall construction.
