hello! just a quick question:
The binding clip (the one you pull back on the boot) on the Snowjam's is made of metal and I dont particularly like it...Do you think it's a good idea if I change it and use a plastic one instead...? What difference would it make?
Thanx, marcolo86.
They pop out easier. Trust me, the metal clips are infinitely superior. Why don't you like it?

I probably didn't express myself well...It's not that I don't like them... but I thought that as plastic is a more flexible material maybe it would be better for that part of the binding (obviosly, i prefer the rest as metal) Anyways thaks for the advice J.D.

because they are pieces of shit that release on every jump, that's why... i'm havin the same damn problem. literally 80-90% of the jumps will make the clips release. they're fine when riding tho.

how much force does it take to clamp down the toe bail over the front of your boot? you should have to use some muscle to clamp it down, if it's too easy to close, ie: too loose, you can get releases. Also, make sure you don't have a bunch of snow packed on the bottom of your boots, this will cause releases too.

It isn't locked in like recreational rollerbladers tighten their skates. I haven't been used to seriously locking down buckles on skates, skiboard boots, or bindings for years. Until now, just making it snug has done the perfect trick. According to you, snowjam, and alex: I need to tighten the toe bail. Right now, it's not effortless to lock-in, but it doesn't really require any serious muscle. i just pull it back and it snaps in place.
Now that I understand they're not tight enough, how do you recommend fixing it?
Should I tighten the screw on the toe bail itself, or should I tighten the binding itself? or should I do both? I'm goin outta town for the weekend to ride & can't afford bindings that release.
please explain to me how each of them will effect the fit of the binding. Thanks.

the set screw on the toe bail of the bindings only job is to control how the toe clamp sits on the front of your boot so it's easier to lift up. that said if it's not set properly it could cause prereleases. so set that screw so you can just get your finger tips under the toe bail.
to tighten the actual bindings on your boots. move the toe and/or heal bails in a little bit so the toe clamp is tougher to close. it shouldn't kill you to close it but as i said it should require a bit of muscle.
let us know how it goes.

ahhh alright, i understand now. I won't be able to do it till tonight after work.
I think it sits correctly on the boot, but i will adjust it so the highest part of the toe bail will just allow my fingertips to fit under. thank you for explaining what that does to me.
I won't hold back on tightening the bindings as much as possible to the boot. i'd rather spend 5 minutes trying to latch one down at the beginning of the day than spend 20 per foot the entire day.
I will notify you tomorrow how it works out.
