I was wondering what the performance difference between the two boards would be. The ALPs are 5 cm longer and .5 cm wider in the middle than the EMPs. I doubt there will be a significant difference in performance between the two, the ALPS have a higher turning radius and will be slightly more difficult to maneuver in the glades. But will the performance in the powder be that much better?

Thanks

the ALPS are really fast and really stable. I'd ride them all mountain, especially glades and if the pow is there... ohh jeep.

enjoy em

the ALP was designed for all mountain shredding and is a tool skiboarders have dreamed about for years... wide enough to float through pow and bash crud in the spring... without sacrificing the manuverability of a skiboard, keeping you shredding in the glades on pow pow days.... its flex pattern allows for some lofty ollies, smooth butters and railslides.

So they really do outperform the EMPs in that respect then? I ski smugglers with family every year and conditions there are usually packed powder with a mix of ice on the trails and in the glades a mix of fluffy powder and ice, but it really isn't that deep. But I also ski here out west and want something that will handle the waist deep powder conditions out here, not to mention the different snow. My current skis can't handle the powder but they are great in the east.

I want to keep using non-releasable bindings but I'm a little worried about the extra length.

Thanks again

smugglers notch in VT???? well for starters the boards were designed by a vermonter with east coast skiing in mind... the boards will hold an edge very well on east coast boiler plate.... and in my opinion will be your best option in powder out west without going to a traditional ski.... i think that the ALP will be the best choice for the conditions you are facing.... as far as releasables go... ive ridden non release bindings for my whole skiboarding life and will continue to do so... if you are uncomfortable with non release bindings, and have enough concern about it to affect the way you ride.. the spruce releasables are your best choice.... otherwise go with bombers... best bindings on the market..

thanks for your interest in REVEL8!

maybe see you at jay peak or smuggs this season?

I rode the Revolt 105 last season in a hge back bowl with bottomless powder. They were simply fantastic. In terms of base area and flotation, the ALPs should be even better!

Yea smugglers notch in VT. I'll be up there this year. I've also been using non releasable and never been hurt using them, and the one time I had a weird torque they came off anyway. And I do want to continue using non releasable. But the extra length does make me slightly nervous, but 5 cm on each end isn't that much.

How heavy are the Revel8s? I've been using Atomic Funmachine's since I started and I love them in the glades. They give me a lot of problems in powder but give me a great edge and are exceptionally light.

Just out of curiosity is there any particular reason the EMPs are .5 cm smaller in width than the revolts?

Thanks again!
