Ok.. so i skated for almost 8 years. Went skiboardin for my first time last winter and loved it. So now im lookin to get my own gear. Problem is im not exactly sure what to get.
i was looking for a soft boot perferably that like of the K2 skates. Was never one for hard boots.
2nd the board. Was lookin at snowjam 75. The more i read the more it seemed right. Not to worried about speed just as long as i can hit the jumps and be free with what i want to do. Kinda like skates lol
3rd bindings. Quick release isnt that big of a deal i dont think. see'ing how the boards i want are pretty small i dont see it being a big thing unless told otherwise.
Just any help would be great. Money is an option in total no more then about $500. Thanks in advance

you're on the right track..considering high quality boards and non release bindings with soft ski boots the only thing we have to do is make sure you're choosing the right length for you. how tall are you? where are you mainly going to be riding (what state?). and i'm guessing you will be in the park mostly but want all mountain too.

ok.. im about 5'11 144lbs.. thing is im confused about boots and bindings. can you use snowboard boots on skiboards? If so do you need speical bindings? If not what kind of boots are there etc.. Iv been twice before on a salmon 90 i think.. im not sure it was a rental and they felt to long.. Prior to that i had zero experience but was about to pull 360 on the flat " dont know what you call but not off a ramp " I live in West Virginia so it will be all park but i do have alot of friends that are snowboard freaks and ill be goin with them 24/7.. But again thanks for all the help. Im lookin to get all my stuff within the week.

this FAQ (http://sbol.ws/vbulletin/upload/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2616) should help a bit. based on your height and what you want to do I'd say the Revel8 BWP's but you said it felt like 90's were too long. Are you sure you weren't on 99.9cm snowblades? if that's the case then look at the 90cm Revel8 Tanshos and SnowJam 90's.

choosing the right length is critical to your enjoyment of the sport. IMO at least. Its nice to see that revel8 came out with several different lengths this season, remember that board flexibility is also a major factor, depending on your weight level and how you ride. However the only want to know whats best for you is it experiment. good luck !

See the main thing im thinkin about is that 99 or 90 seems big to me. Then again iv only went like once and i rented the ones i used and they seemed big. They were solmon's * or whatever.. so what is a good length if your really wanting to do just tricks etc.. i was thinkin shorter better. Someone like to help clear this up for me.. thanks

experimenting really isn't a good bit of advice because a lot of people don't have that option, especially with how hard it is to find quality boards. so let's try and help you make the right choice off the bat so you can have a good season and then next season you'll be in a much better position to decide if you should stay with what you have or upgrade. if you think 90's are too long and you're not concerned with speed/carving and you love the inline feel then for sure go with 75's. they sound prefect for you right now. i'm 6'1" and started on 76cm boards and had a great time my first season.
These (http://www.skiboardsonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=snjm_05_75&Category_Code=onsalenow) just went on sale and you'd have $351.00 left over for lift tickets.

nice.. thanks.. but i do like turns so 75s dont hold well or are just harder to make hold? lol cause i thought even if they were short and wide they would carve .. either way ill probably get this.. what bindings would be best?

they will carve like crazy, the only problem starts when you can to go really, really fast and hold the carve, then they will chatter out a bit but you said you're not worried about speed so it shouldn't be an issue.
if you're going to be hitting jumps you want to have all metal for sure. all the ones we sell should hold up fine since you're not too heavy but the more you spend the better you'll get. since money isn't a problem go with one of the two best: line ffpro or bomber elite.

Thanks for all the help.
the only thing i have left to be curious about is boots. Some bindings say they take snowboard boats. And all the skiboard boots(ski boots) iv seen i havent really liked. Im refering to those extreme bindings II also is there a ski-board boot that would resemble like a K2 inline skate. I dont like the feel of a total hard shell..
Thanks again for all the help
I haven't noticed this until recently but try to pick up boots with a walk/ski feature. I noticed then when you go to jump off a jump or grind box you really can't jump at all if your boots don't flex. try it sometime at home, try to jump without moving your ankles and you'll see what i mean.
I am going to try the alpine snowboard boots, theres a few pairs of raichles on ebay right now, and i beleive sbol has a few left as well.
