A lot of people live and die by them to get their edges at the proper angle. I use one just for portability, but I have used a metal file and have gotten just as good results for a lot cheaper. Then again, I'm not all that anal about my edge angles.

one thing I wanted to know. I've been getting a little rust on the back of my boards. Would this edge tuners remove this or what? Thanks

use a piece of sand paper to remove rust from edges.

Basically the sharper the angle of the bases (90 degrees instead fo 30, say), the easier it will be for you to carve because they catch a lot easier. The downside is if you do park a lot, because they catch a lot easier, it's a lot easier to "catch an edge" (duh) and wipe out.

you can get them online @ www.skiboards.com , but they are about 20 dollars alone, so I decided to go ahead and buy an entire tuning kit (DaKine's Deluxe kit). www.boardtactics.com has better prices than the other sites I found. they've got a 20 dollar kit that includes a tool & an edge tuner. i think they sell edge tuners separately too. i paid about 59 (including shipping) for the DaKine kit.
