I don't know how else to put this, masturbation for your feet.

The liner has two tongues that actually wrap around your ankle, and due to the rounded design of the bottom, they are actually very easy to walk in,

Its very easy to adjust to walk/ski mode and you can even adjust the angle at which you're skiing (to a greater degree then typicial "canting" settings.) You can lock the boot in any position, including a nearly vertical position, more natural for skiboarding, or ski in walk mode.

Next the buckles have individual teeth on them so you can adjust them "just right" and not worry about one buckle being too loose and the next too tight.

Also they come with two different outer tongues, one is a soft and another is a hard one, for different flex also.

Oh man that's a good one!!

The only thing it needs is what i have in my Technica's. It's called hotform, heats up my boots on the way to the hill in my truck. That's nice slippin on a warm pair of boots....mmmmmm.....warm

Actually G I was just about to do that, I think alot of people are turned off by the price but they are worth EVERY PENNY, and all those other boots fit me but i like the features of these the most. however i'm going to try to get one little spot stretched in them that hurts one of my feet

Greco

no, don't get them if you're going to be using ski bindings. non release skiboard bindings only.

I'm assuming you got the liners fit to your feet? I tried riding mine once before I did, and they killed my feet, but once I got them heat molded, they were almost as comfortable as normal shoes.

Hair dryer won't be enough heat for these liners. These require a hotter temp than the ones that you can do with just a hair dryer or the boot liners that work the same way. You either need to cook em in your oven yourself, or what I would reccomend, find a ski shop that has the oven for molding liners. The place I did mine did it for free and tossed in some free cheap footbeds because he said they wouldn't work quite as well without em. I love crazy old friendly ski shop guys.

molding thermal liners at home, how-to

Yup, that's exactly what you want to do with em if you're going to mold them yourself. When I ordered my boots they came with a paper with those same instructions, but if you're going to do it be very careful when you're doing it. If you take em to a shop and they scorch em, they'll most likely be responsible (unless you sign something saying they're not). If you scorch em doing it yourself, you're basically hosed.

I stuck my hair dryer once into my liners.. in about 2 minutes, not only did the liner melt, but so did the plastic covering on the hair dryer too.

what do they mean by a toe cap?

SkaFreak
12-15-2006, 01:39 AM
Basically just a small thing that will go over your toes and give them a little bit of room to move. Because the boots mold to your feet, if you don't put anything extra over your toes they will mold to the position your toes are in and you can't move them. Real toe caps are little plastic pieces that they put in when you put them on after heating them to make sure your toes have room. Since most people don't have real toe caps lying around their house, the best way to get a little bit of space is by adding the extra layer of fabric. They just go in during the molding, and then are taken out before you use them.

ah, I see. one my feet is ever so slightly larger then the other so i placed an extra sock on that foot, as far as the other side i wiggles my toes a little while the liners were cooling, they made this loud quieef sound when i stuff them in, they were right about them blowing up like mashmellows, wow.

tip:

when heating them and they pillow up make sure they don't touch the heating elements in your oven, mine didnt but i noticed they were getting close.

how come you didn't just get them taken into a shop and done?

Mark
12-17-2006, 09:20 AM
yea you need some ventilation if do it that way, cant just stuff that thing way into the boot and forget about it.

I have four pairs of skiboots, and this was a pair that I didn't use anymore, so it was no big loss. Basically was my experiment to see whether or not a hair dryer could be used to heat up molded liners.

I called all the local ski shops in NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens) and none of them would touch the liners cause they didn't deal with Tecnica boots. All of them said we would mold them, but if they get damaged, we won't be liable since we aren't "official Tecnica dealers".

Who would of thought this would happen in only 2 minutes!

hey carver i had this idea of using like ABS plastic *like PVC but its black and resists heat*

and making a tube that branches out into four tubes that you can dry boots and gloves with, think anyone would be interested? It would be cheap.

Do you mean something like this? This is what I use to dry my gloves and boots at the same time. I'm sure there is a market for it.

precisely, except my version will just have you stick a hair dryer in one end.

I think that's a great idea, especially for those traveling on weekend or week-long trips, most hotels/condos provide a hair dryer, would make much lighter packing of stuff.

These boots are the best thing I could have ever done for my feet. They are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I took them to my local shop to have them molded "the right way" and WOW what a difference moldable liners make. That and the fack that you can adjust and lock the forward lean is epic. I keep mine set at 4 and that puts me just about straight up. These are worth every penny so if you can find them snatch them up quick.

venom try them in walk mode sometime, i find that it makes for very comfortarble riding.
