Hey, who would be able to make an ISF East Coast Championship event at Hunt Hollow Mtn. and Swain Mtn. in Rochester, NY the weekend of March 20 and 21?

Free place to stay and $20 lift tickets will be supplied by the ISF.

This will most likely be the last event of the year!!!

There will be an entry fee to compete. Don't worry, it will be nominal. 1/2 of whatever the entry fee is will be paid out in "Cash Purse"!!!
I hope everyone can make this event. Guaranteed it will be a sick weekend.
Greco said this might be the last event of the season....however, he is forgetting the Tuckerman's trip....possibly in May?......

Yo you riders, if you are coming to East Coast Championships March 20th and 21st, please email me and let me know when you are arriving, if you need a place to stay, etc. My house is open to the first 7 riders that let me know they are coming. Other people in the Rochester area have also offered their floors for you guys to sleep on, but we need to know how many people are coming.

Please let me know your plans asap so we can make arrangements for all of you. Thanks.

Good idea to post your travel plans right here on the "Forum".

It only "doesn't look good" if people talk negatively. What ever happened to being 'positive'???

Glenn Lustik said he will be at Swain, FOR SURE! How's that for starters???

See you this weekend.

The 2004 ISF East Coast Finals went OOFFFFFFFF!! We had 7 riders signed up and for reasons not able to repeat here in writing, 3 were unable to compete in the end. However, the four riders that did took home the cash and prizes provided by Snow Country ski shop in Rochester, New York.

Here are the results:

Slopestyle:

1st Place: Adam Dwyer, Arkport, New York
2nd Place: Brett Botens, Cuba, New York
3rd Place: Ian Conley, Attica, New York
4th Place: L. Dean Kistler, III, Rochester, New York

Rail Jib Session 'Best Trick':

1st Place: Brett Botens, Cuba, New York
2nd Place: Adam Dwyer, Arkport, New York

Next is "ISF World Finals at Whistler", April 3rd and 4th!!! Who will be there? We have a HUGE surprise for those of you that show up! Hope to see you out in BC in a couple of weeks!

this whole thing didnt make sence to me, the finals were composed of riders who hadnt been to any of the events this year.In my opinion(like it matters) this wasnt an internationalSKIBOARDfederation event, Because the event welcomed skiers and snowboarders, who obviosly werent at the time members of the isf. I think that soo the isf will be welcomed to skiers and snowboarders, who would deny there money(sarcastic)

When one is refering to another person, 'there' is correclty spelled "their"....(note the tone of sarcasm).....

.....and where yesterday, may I ask, were all of the ISF riders that were at all of the other events this winter??? One can't comment/or complain if you are present yourself!

How about the InternationalSKIBOARDfinals in whistler, will this event be opened to skiers and snowboarders, and im not saying i dislike them because i ski with skiers and snowboarders everytime i go skiing but, i think that the isf should be a skiboarding only federation hense the name

If you talk to any ISF board member, you will easily find out that the organization was established three years ago to promote 'snowsports' through the median of the 'skiboard'. Of coarse we have skiboarding events and comps. At these events and comps, we will not turn away skiers and snowboarders (not even someone on a 'Snowscoot') that want to join us for a day of fun on the snow. We are here to support whatever a person is doing on the snow on a cold (or warm) winter (or spring) day.

We also consider ourselves the "world's leading authority on the sport of skiboarding". We "write the rules and regulations for the sport of skiboarding". Three years ago we put out a letter to the International Olympic Committe (IOC) in Luzerne, Switzerland, explaining to them that "points towards Olympic status can only be gained through events sanctioned by the ISF". Hopefully your riders out there understand what that means for 'you'. If you would like more clarification on what that means, feel free to ask.

The ISF would highly recommend that riders step up to the plate and get themselves to more events. That might mean getting a part time job so that you can afford the expense. Snowsports require a HUGE commitment, both of your time, and of your money. We understand that and try our best to keep costs down to a minimum. I believe the event at Mountain Creek was a good example of that. For those of you that weren't there, the ISF rented a motorhome and provided a few meals, all for only $35 per night. Ben Wannamaker hooked up free lift tickets and food vouchers for the cafeteria as well. (Thanks Ben!)

I hope this clears up some of the issues people might be having about the costs of joining and attending ISF events and what the organization is all about. Please feel free to ask any question you would like to ask and I will try to answer it as best I can.

So How are we suppose to know who the east coast champion for skiboarding is? haha

Whitey,

I guess for all of us to REALLY know who the East Coast Champion is, it would have been good for 'all of you' to come out and compete.

How is the ISF supposed to hold comps, hand out awards, and pick East Coast Champs, World Champs, Rookie of the Year, etc., when noone shows up to compete???

What would you riders like the ISF to do next winter for competitions? You have asked for comps in the past, but very few riders have actually showed up for events this winter.

What do YOU want???

Dean

RISE

It would be nice to have comps posted before the season actully starts or at the beginning so that we could save money to go to these comps and sessions. its kindof hard when there is only a couple month notice

The dates for World's were posted last fall (2003). Location was posted a couple months ago. That was the best we could do this year. Next year we hope to post the location much sooner.

Any mountain out there willing to host the 2005 ISF World Finals?

Where would you riders like to see next year's Finals?

quebec would be good, quite a few good parks in around there

Alex-TRS
03-30-2004, 07:12 PM
agreed on this one!

we need an event in the Quebec City area.....
eastern quebec has the sickest setups (Relais is awesome and cost 21$ CDN a day...just ridiculous)

matthew
03-30-2004, 09:45 PM
well i couldent make it out to any events this year as i need a new car and couldent get a ride anywhere i would like to hit up all the events for next year i just need to know about them ahead of time i am good to go anywhere as long as they have a nice park and pipe

Bentfilms
03-30-2004, 10:13 PM
We said on the way to mountain creek that Quebec is the best idea for world finals, because at the tremblant event we had the biggest showing of skiboarders to any event, including a huge amount of pros and ams, but you still held it in whistler!

Jonny W
03-31-2004, 01:21 AM
yeah i could do quebec it would be way better, what skiboarders live near whistler? is anyone actually going to make whistler? there is no doubt in my mind that there are tons of riders with lots of skill willing to ride, but with the state of skiboarding even the "pros" have to get there way to all the events out of there own pockets, and its difficult to do, when you look at it most of the guys showing up to the comps are still in high school whcih means not much time for a part time job, and not everyones parents are able to help with the funds, untill skiboarding grows and has more companys able to put out sponsership dollars, you can't expect all the top calibur riders to be able to just get out to whistler. untill the current state of skiboarding improves, i think the organizers of these compititions need to look at the demographics and try to pick a area that may be more accesable to the masses, everyone knows that all the riders are killing it this year and its just really unfortunate because i'm sure "World championships" in quebec would have brought out probably the sickest line up of riders all year.
easy

Alex-TRS

agreed Jonny W

I personnally am in my last semester of my bachelor's degree in computer sciences. This means that starting next month I will be working monday through friday 8-4 with a good pay check.

so next winter I will have the time to leave for weekends
and whatnot and drive up to events.

with university and work part time (24 hours a week) this
year was hectic. so much work to do and so little time.

now that I will "only" have a job, weekends will be weekends
and I should be skiboarding a whole lot more. same goes
for inlining =)

so the thing is we all learn from our mistakes, so we'll see
all of you next year at , hopefully, most of the events if the
demographics are indeed taken into account.

bailey
03-31-2004, 12:35 PM
whitey couldnt be more right, and yes, something similar to tremblant would be idea. probably the same kind of idea but during a warmer period
