Hi All, just wanted to introduce myself.
My name's Harry. 28 years old. I am originally from Maine (right near Sunday River ski resort), but have been living in NH for about 11 years now. I skied for probably about 5 years before I started snowboarding. I have been snowboarding for about 9 years now.
I used to ride quite often, but funds and time have prevented that over the past few years, where I have only been going once or twice a year.
I also have a major comfort problem snowboarding. I ride all mountain, fast slow, parks, carving, and love it. The problem I have I think has to do with my boots and my stance while riding where my legs absolutely KILL me. It's more of a feeling of my bones hurting than my muscles hurting...but I have never been able to make the right adjustments to correct this. I still ride hard and hit big airs because I like it, and tolerate the pain.
Well, I have rented different types of skiboards, from the old snoskates to the snowblades and have always loved the experience. snowskates were definitely tough to use, but a blast! snowblades, as you most know, were a huge improvement for me, but still not perfect. well, my buddy recently told me he tried skiboards, love them, and is buying some (he's buying a friend's). that got me thinking long and hard about them again, and really wanting a pair. I did a bunch of research and found this site last week.
I placed my order yesterday for the EMP's, Line FF Pros, and the Rossi Soft Light 3's and am VERY excited as you can imagine. I really can't wait to get out on the mountain more now. I plan on going a ton this year, so I feel this is a new beginning. skiboards will allow me to stay out there all day without those sharp pain I get, and I can still hit every thing (and much more) than I was.
I was recently accepted as a Team III member (thanks Greco!) and plan on trying to submit a video for Team II. I rarely have a camera with me, but will work something out to try and submit something. I'm not saying I'm great by any means, but I would love to give it a shot. I dont do rails (fell hard on my snowboard), but would love to try rails again on the skiboards. I think it may be a lot easier. Mostly I just love to hit really big air and throw in some grabs and spins. I also (as mentioned) love to just carve and hit some fast lines too...but mostly look for any opportunity to hit a bump.
I also plan on trying hard to spread the word about this wonderful site and community. I, as you have, have been stopped many many times on the mountain to talk about skiboards....and I was just renting! I'm excited to get out there again and talk about these things in the lift lines, and start handing out cards to help us all out and help all those people that are dying to try it but just dont have the knowledge.
Thanks again for the great site and shop...i'll be around more. :)
Also, possibly going riding with my friend in Maine next weekend (2/10). Maybe like Shawnee peak or something near his house. I will post again and let you know in case some of you are in the area. Also going again (NH or ME) on the weekend of the 24th hopefully, but i'll let you know.
