They're building an indoor ski dome thing in NJ about 2 hours from me, too. But from what I've read about it its only gonna have 2 slopes and there's been no metion of a terrain park :(. What I dont get is why they build one near all the ski mountains and not down by Atlantic CIty where the closest ski mountain is 3 hours away in PA. Besides, there are tons of tourists there.

The continent's first snowdome is planned for the Xanadu entertainment complex, which recently began rising in the New Jersey Meadowlands. It is tentatively scheduled to open in the winter of 2007-8, despite recent concerns about the financial status of the lead developer, the Mills Corporation. Technology has made snowdomes feasible, as has simple, uncluttered marketing. As Martin Smith, managing director of the Snowdome in Tamworth, England, said last week: "The appeal of a snowdome is not complicated. Fooling around in the snow is fun."

I heard recently they were doing it in the Dallas area too ...

Gawd only knows there are a TON of Texans here in CO for the month of March ... now they can do it year round. I know when I was back living in Tejas I would have been there constantly in the summer if anything just to get away from the surface of the sun HEAT!!

Here's a rendering I found of what they are planning:

Oh ... and according to the press release I read there will be a "competition half-pipe".

Pretty cool ... I wonder what it is like to ski on that flex stuff tho?

the pictures and videos are misleading. There is no real snow, and definitely no powder. Snowflex is basically wet carpet. Carving goes out the window.
Its a big thing in Europe. When I lived in chesterton wed go to a place in germany to go dryskiing (thats the propername of it), and it feels like snow, until you fall down, then it feels like you just landed on dirt.

I was just doing some looking into this one thats gonna be in jersey they pushed the openning day back to fall of 08' so its not happening anytime soon. I e-mailed them to see if there would be any freestyle terrain but i did not get a reply was browsing through it a bit more and found this photo on there main page that was taken in oct. of 05' guess it was a go ahead celebration for building it.

I take it there will indeed be a freestyle park in the dome but who knows. everyone should send them e-mails asking about it. if we bug um enough there is sure to be one. heres the link to them if your want it. http://www.meadowlandsxanadu.com/static/node1304.jsp;jsessionid=ac7oAgfZaZ1f7z-94i
