i'm already sold on revel8's but i'm not sure on which ones. i really think i want the revolts but the alp's sound good too. the length "seems" minimal but is it? whats the big difference between the two? it seems like the revolts get better reviews. i'm 5ft8in 170lbs , not interested in releasables and i'm in it for the long haul. i already have extremes II's waiting to be mounted. i really want to get a little bit longer board but not to long. are the 08's gonna be the same or a different model? i know this is the place to get the experienced help us "new" guys need and i thank you for any info you can give. any word on the rossi soft 1 ?

you cant get revolts anymore. As far as I know EMPs are almost EXACTLY the same as the revolts.

i'm confused???????????? if this site reviews the REVOLTS so highly and continues to display it , and it no longer even exists, WHAT THE #*%!. now i'm really lost!! out of all the boards , these seem to have the most feedback. where do i turn to now???
Revel 8 is the brand. Revolts were last year's 105 cm and the first product offering from Revel 8. This year's EMP is very similar to last year's Revolt, but it too is sold out.

Id rather use revolts than emps. I just have something against using pro or signature equipment

I'm 6'3", and 225lbs. I went straight from 90cm snowblades, to the 110cm ALP's, and had zero problems. I'm from the midwest, and the first time I used them was in Keystone Co. First time down, I felt like I'd been on them for years. I'm not into park though, but they were great in the bumps, glades, and steeps. Hair pin carves too.

its a shame that you have a problem supporting the company (REVEL8) that supports the riders... because 3/4 of the boards are signiture models...
the riders who have their names on the boards are supporting your sport and coming up with new concepts and designs. They are also representing our sport in international competition (world cup).
If you have a problem with riding pro equipment... i suppose you will never ride the best boards on the market!!!
cheers

amen to that! I feel a similar way about brand naming, but not supporting pro riders. I mean, Revel8 is paying these people to ride and represent US! if their boards aren't selling, marketing/advertising experts may take that as a sign to drop the rider....we dont want that now, do we?
it's one thing not to support signature equipment for sell outs (George Foreman, anyone??), but I assure you that these riders aren't selling out. they are out there supporting their cause and representing. :)

My beef with Pro models is that when I had a signature model of drum sticks (Vic Firth Sponsored me locally when I was in a band). THe model totally sucked, and I didnt even want to use them, even tho they were my signature model.
I have nothing against revel8, or else I probably wouldnt be on this forum. I have nothing against the pro riders, but those riders will be Pro whether I buy their model or not. If pros were only determined by how their products sell, every industry with signature anything would be a lot different. If NO ALPs sold for a season, maybe Greco wouldn't sell it, or change it a bit, but he wouldn't stop sponsoring Adam. If he would stop sponsoring Adam, then thats fucked up.

i hear ya. i wouldn't want to drink coke if they sponsored me, but i would have to...that just sucks...
and no, sponsorship isn't based on selling products for the company, but it does show that people are watching this rider and like him.
i guess it depends on the circumstance, but in this case, i dont mind buying pro models at all. ;)

Well, Im getting EMPs because it more or less is the revolt model.
Another beef is competitions. Skiboard World Cup. Matt Hein used ALPs, and so did Adam Lynam. In the cross even, Matt beat Adam, on his own signature skiboards. Isnt that weird! Not saying one person is better than the other. Just if I was in a competition with Ethan Mitchell I wouldnt want to be riding EMPs.

It would still suck if you were beat by your own board...........

insane boards!! i went the last two days to sunapee and okemo with about 6+ inches of fresh but heavy powder and the riding was great. i was worried about the length of these boards but after i got on the mountain all worries were gone. unbelievable how they cut through all the crap and all i had to do was enjoy the ride. anyone even thinkin of gettin on the ALP's would be nuts NOT to. awsome boards!! thanks guys. can't wait till next season.

I wouldn't neccesarily steer clear of a product just because of who's name is on it, just like I wouldn't buy a product based solely on the name. Buy the best quality product you can afford that best fits what you want it for - buy what's best for YOU.
And if you should happen to buy Revel8, you're supporting the core industry, no sell outs.
