YES!
They do at times release.
The leash will stop em runnin away before you clip in.
If your runaway skiboard hits me, i'll kick your ass just like i did the redneck snowboarder with no leash.
And finally, its the Law, at least where i live that you have a restraining device (brakes, leash, etc)

nah man mine popped of maybe twice in 9 yrs... just keep bindings down when there not on your feet and always lock in your uphill ski first then turn and do your other shouldnt ever have to worry bout a runnaway ski that way.... anyway thats my preference i cant stand bending down to strap my boot in then puttin some gay stap around my leg if you have a gondala or a cab near you where you have to take them off after each run you will understand what im sayin....

i def think they are worth it. i keep my bindings really tight and even still if i hit a big air and dont land it right it will pop off.... i dont feel like chasing my board down the mountain...

Snag em. It's a few bucks that will keep you from getting sued if you board ever pops off and hits someone. Plus one bad landing could send your board into a deep drift, where you might not be able to find it. I actually say that happen to a guy on snowblades once.
