My name is Gabriel and I own Salomon Snowblades.

HELLO GABRIEL.

About 7 years ago Salomons were the ONLY thing that I could find in ANY store in a 50 mile radius and were the ONLY pair in stock, but these are all excuses.

Now I haven't had a bad time on the Sal's. I was on skiis for 10 years, switched to their smaller cousins, and never looked back in large part due to the Sal's BUT I have noticed the problems described on this site: I feel a little unstable at high speeds, I can't get going as fast as I want, landing jumps is much more difficult than it should be, etc, etc. So I'm lookin' to make a change.

I'm an all mountain skiboarder; I like going fast, catching air, navigating tough terrain, the works. I also love the feel of the 99.9s I'm on in terms of length and don't believe I want to go any higher. So here's my query:

Do the Revel8 BWPs match these criteria?
I love the design, price, and stats but I am aware that BW made them to be rail boards and I worry thus about their all-mountain...ness.

I also wonder if I should pick up the BWPs now or wait and see what's out for next season.

Any input is appreciated.

Sounds like you've realized the limitations of salomon ski blades. I have found that the BWP are excellent for all mountain riding based on their fat profile they float pretty well on just about anything, while maintaining that skiboard feel we all love.

they may be sold out by next year so i would pick some up now if i were you. craziest base graphics i've ever seen!

What I also wonder about are 2 things:

1) Will a better board come out next season and make me regret buying this one

and

2) I've never tried anything larger than 99.9, so I wonder what the advantages of a bigger model (like the ALP) are.

If you want all around go with shorter boards/middle range, Longer sboards are more for speed on powder and jump clearance. I find they lack a bit on the rails because you have a little extra tail and nose. Especially for someone a little taller like myself (6'0). I dropped 15 cm (from Emps to Tanshos)and found the difference minumal. Rails and landing surface area on jumps are biggest noticable difference. The small boards are underated all around.

Buy some now and pick up a new model next season......

shorter boards cannot handle speed and powder as well as longer. if you want maximum edge handling while carving fast and maximum powder float and surface area for landing then go longer. if the maximum of those things isn't important and you want more maneuverability go shorter. the medium length boards are a compromise between the two extremes.

true. though i have noted the bwp's are fairly stable at high speeds due to the wideness. but if you are ALL about speed or ALL about air, get the longer ones.

from the sounds of it I think I'll get the BWPs now and maybe get some longer boards in a season or two (for variety).

Thanks for the help

you know I'm in Sacramento - you could always hit up kirkwood with me and we could try each others boards... I've wanted to try the shorter revel8 boards... and I have 2 pairs of 105's (Revolts & EMPs).

the only 98cm boards I've ever ridden are snowblades and would be interested to feel the difference with shorter boards.

Going up this sunday if you're interested.

Step one is getting toegether enough $$$ to buy the BWPs, so this weekend is probably a no. I'll let you know when I get 'em though (always good to use the buddy system :D )

sounds good man - supposed to be a big storm going through Fri, Sat, & Sun... should be fun!

I have like 5 pairs of boards if you do wanna go and just borrow some others... K2 fattys, snowjam, & spruce are my others.

ben did intend for his boards to be jib sticks, but as the were my first revel8 boards I was un aware of this and I rode them on 30 foot tables, not a problem, had them in 25 inches of fresh CO pow.and with this new wide base it was once again not a problem I highly recomend bwps to you.they are lots of fun and very stable at high speed.

wait, stop, halt and hold the f*#k up.its june.give it a little while and see what revel8 puts out for 07 08.if there isnt anything you like I would imagine that there would be last year stuff still available in august.I dont know for sure when they puy out a new line up, but dont be too much in a rush.revel8 makes the best boards on the market and is sure not to dissapoint.they always have a variety of sizes to fit individul needs and prefrances and I am sure greco wont disapoint this year.has he ever?

thanks for the confidence brett but the supply of 2007 BWP's is getting low and once they are gone that will be it for that graphic. so there is a good chance if someone waits they won't be able to get that particular board with that graphic ever again. the bwp will be back next season but with new graphics. i can't say more at this time, still planting the seeds out back.

I was just takin' advantage of the lowered price in the all important end of the season sale. The graphics are neat and the dimensions are good and the price was right so I went through with it. I'll probably do the same at the end of next season.

I do know by buying new boards now it only guarantees that the new season boards will be the best ever. C'est la vie.
