Hi all,
Just been for a blast at the Cas Snowdome (UK) with my new boots on the Tanshos, here are some impressions.
My first real go I ended up on my arse as I went to turn and found I'd massively over-steered!! Boy, these things allow you to translate thoughts into action!!
There was far more connect between me and the boards with the Pro 1's than with my Soft Lights and it took a few runs to adjust to the new levels of feedback I was getting.
After an hour I had to take time out to reset the bindings and give my feet a little rest (new boots, the down-side). The buckles allow for a lot more adjustment than Soft Lights but I found the liner to be far less forgiving. Given that these are race boots this isn't a surprise but it does mean you have to set them up a lot more precise than the Softies. I do miss the Sofies lace system, it really closes the bottom of the boot around your toes in a more even manner.
They also have a setting to firm up the boots response from soft to hard so out came the allen key and two tweaks later I was ready to get back out there.
Boy, even better!! I'll have to put some of it down to giving the toes a break but the responsiveness was even faster!! They did feel more nervous as the slightest movement was both going down to the Tanshos and back up to my foot but this is something I think you'd get use to and wouldn't be so bad on decent sized runs (as opposed to an indoor slope).
They also don't have too much of a cant forwards like most ski boots (slightly more than the Softies) and if you don't like the default setting you can adjust this yourself.
I got mine for an absolute bargain (hehehehe, kids sized feet :D) but even in normal sizes I've seen them at reasonable prices.
I'm not sure I'd have them as my only boot, they may bed in a little more with some slope time and I may take them back to have the liners re-heated, but the extra control and feedback they give you are fantastic!!
Feel like having a manic blast down your favorite black run? Try a pair of Elite Pro 1's, you'll love 'em.
Want a lazy day cruising the groomed slopes, go for Soft Light 3's.
