Hi all. Awesome website.

I'm getting into the skiboarding game this year - turned onto it by my baby brother and his Line Jedi 90s. I ski and snowboard and picked up both quickly so I am assuming skiboarding will be no different for me and will be an awesome blast. Here's my question:

I live in Utah and live for powder days in the trees, but if we have a "bad" snow year then I have to deal with groomers and differing terrain. I am a 6'1" woman that weighs about 190 all geared up. I want to be able to handle powder well but also carve on the groomers without washing out everywhere. I really want good all mountain skiboards. I have read a lot on the site and forums and seem to have it narrowed down to the Revel Revolts or KTPs. I can't decide, and without them to ride, I am looking for some helpful opinions out there.

Looking forward to hearing from the experts!

Thanks,
Angela

At your size and living in Utah, I would say you should go with the EMP's (Revolts). I'm a guy about the same size and ride the EMP's and I wouldn't want to ride deep powder on anything less after riding them. They give a great ride.

Can't go wrong with Revolts in this situation - and you have 3 designs to choose from! also, the KTP's are new this year no one has tested them yet on groomers or pow... though it seems like a no brainer that they'll be killer in the freshies, I wonder if the wider boards will be more work to catch and hold an edge...

must wait and find out!

G, thanks for the correction there. Need to get used to the name change still it would seem. Just to clarify for anyone who doesn't know, EMP's were last seasons equivalent to this years Revolts.

Yeah, the Revolts were definitely what I was leaning toward but liked the idea of "wider is better" KTPs - but then didn't want to sacrifice carving when I need it. Thanks for the opinions If anyone else would like to chime in, please do so...

...so in looking at the choices for the Revolts, what effect does the absence or presence of the carbon beam have on the boards and the ride - are they a benefit in certain terrain? Impact on carving? What purpose does it serve ultimately...

thanks!

This is not an official answer, but I believe I saw a similar question in another thread. Basically (if I remember right) the beam is for added strength and shouldn't really have much of an effect on the overall performance of the boards.

Also, just to throw my two cents in on the Revolts; I have a pair of last year's EMPs and I'm quite pleased with them. I'm 6'3" and about 200lbs with gear, and I had no problem getting through everything from ice to groomers to powder with natural moguls. They are a very good set of all mountain boards in my opinion.
