a trip to Panorama Resort, British Columbia, is in the works for March 2005. This trip will consist of 8 days of riding the back country by day and park by night. We'll be getting a condo so room will not be an issue(fees will be split evenly between everyone). guys! i'm pretty shure i wouldn't make it (but will compensate myself with french/italian/austrian alps) but there is one thing i want somebody (if not all who're going) to do!!! on the panorama website i saw they offer heli-skiing - so, is anybody up for heli-skiboarding???? i have never heard of anybody heli-skiboarding, but this is sooo tempting for me. i just want to hear some feedback before i go to kamchatka or caucasus and get stuck there on the top of the mountain...

whats up guys, im down for going to panorama, and i will totally be there... BUT

you need to go late feb, like 20/28th area, stay out of there in march, the tracks will be getting really eaten up and there will be alot more exposure, if you want the most for your buck, beleive me, go in feb.....

if you go on march break when school is all out, your gonna see bigger line ups, less virgin lines and more joeys snaking.

Fly to Calgary the morning of Thursday March 10th
bus to panorama and check in that afternoon
bus back to calgary the morning of Friday the 18th
Fly home that afternoon

just to ballpark prices
the hotel will be around 200-300 each
riding is around 300 for youngins(under 19) and 350 for old people BUT we will try to see if theyll cut us a deal
and the bus could be up to 100 beaners.. or we can all pitch in and rent a car

we have a 1 bedroom condo with kitchen and living room for 8 nights so i need to know fairly soon who will be there for sure so i can tell you exactly how much the cost will be per person. you can make your plane reservations now

bailey, i called panorama and they said that in mid march there will be springs skiing conditions, and if you want any sort of powder you better rent a heli.... theres no hiking and no out of bounds skiing....

heres my thoughts.... if were going to go and ski out west, and NOT get powder, which is basically whats going to happen, we'll just be riding the park all day, why dont we just go somewhere like mtn creek in jersey. we'd save alot of money ride a better park etc. etc....

honestly dude, i think that we should 100% look into xmas break instead of march..... my plane ticket isnt booked yet, and i really am not down with going out west and not skiing powder... is there anyway that you can swing that/look into that dude? cause i gaurantee i'll just be frusturated sitting in a park out west when i should be skiing powder...

word, let me know man... cause i've just been thinking about it alot... xmas break is a huge idea, and it'd be SO much more beneficial to our out west experience, TRUST me

thats weird because ive gone maybe 10 times in the past during the same week and there have always been excellent conditions with fresh powder, and you have always had access to the BC... im still set on panorama, i know from experience

Oh yea for the Lift tickets and such let me see what I can do for deals.
It does pay off working for the ski patrol and having a few friends that work for various mountains here. ;)

I say renting a car would be cheaper by far and just in case we need it.
I dunno if anyone wants to heli skiboard but I was considering it this coming season. So if by chance any of you wanna heli we can split the costs on that as well.
I dunno if I'll be staying the whole time you guys are out there but for sure by then I'll find out my whole work dilemma since I'll be working at Grouse Mountain this season.

Well so what's the deal with the panorama trip?

I have a suggestion if you guys wanna hit up a park or something.
It probably might be cheaper too.

Grouse, Seymour and Cypress
You can alternate between each day

and Party it up in Vancouver at night.

I talked to a skier the other day.
Supposedly Grouse's Park is suppose to be NUCKIN FUTS this year.
I know they have a Pipe and a Super pipe.
Also a Boarder/Skier-X course.
We can always have races on that for fun if you want.


I know Cypress has made some DRASTIC changes to it's park.
Since the 2010 olympics are being held at Cypress they HAD to make changes.

but anyways.

i think right now were just waiting for everyone to get their plane tickets. the hotels booked and all we need is a way out from calgary to panorama

as far as riding goes, panoramas got some epic back country, so what i was thinking was ride the BC in the day and hit up their park at night. the parks not too big but they have nice jibs and jumps. since last year they now have high speed quads going all the way to the top so doing laps through the BC shoundt be slow at all
aand nightlife, theyve got maybe 7 or 8 bars there, including a nightclub so its pretty good i suppose. whenever ive been ive always been too young to go in but from what ive seen it looks good

yaah, myself, kevin and greco have agreed that a trip to WHISTLER would be a better idea
-a LOT more terrain
-we found a hostel 1km from the base of the mountain that will cost us only 21$ per person per night
-busses are constantly running from vancouver airport to whistler
-possibly a day in grouse and cypress would be done too
