whats everyones views on this then, i have used open faced so far, bad lieutenant and a burton lid. decided to purchase a full face lid last night, an azonic azx. i always used a full face while riding skateparks/bmx and downhill mtb, and find i am getting faster and pushing my limits even further everytime i am on snow now. http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/ProductImages/lrg_6701.jpg

does anyone else use a full face or is it just the piss pot

Personally, I use an open-face helmet, but I see nothing wrong with going that extra step and getting the full-face. If you feel like you're really pushing your limits than I see it as a smart choice to increase the protection level of your gear.
Guys that I work with who ride Harleys and the like give me a hard time about wearing full gear on my bike, but I've been down on the road and on the track and I know it's my gear that's saved me. You wear what you think you need and don't worry about what others say.

I say get what makes you feel the most safe and don't care about what others think, but on the same notion, best to know your limits, one of the problems with all the protection gear are the few that think the protection gear will protect them from anything, and find out the hard way that it doesn't.

full face seems a bit much but if it makes you feel safer while riding i would say forget what other people think, at the end of the day you have to live with whatever you do to your body...

for me it's a fractured vertebrae and a seperated shoulder... live and learn.

Are you Skiing or Dirtbiking???:D

If I saw that on a hill i would laugh, unless the guy is pulling some sick moves. Then laughing turns to awe.

I have never fallen on my head, and I wear a helmet. I wear it for the time I do have a crippling fall and land weird. Its warmers then a beanie too. I find it helps more on the chairlift when people are slamming the bar down without warning.

Just expect stares and glares.....and laughing. But if the helmet makes you feel invincible, then go for it.
You better be doing flips.

i will be skibioarding.
why laughing, surely its just a helmet, unless i am missing something.
why should i be doing flips, is it compulsory?
its not a case of making me feel invincible,
i used full face for years as a dh mtb'er would never dream of using a piss pot then, being on the slopes is another kind of dh isnt it??? i used full face when riding half pipes/bmx, wasnt going anywhere near the speeds i reach on my boards. add a few tress into the equation and i think full face has a place.
seriously though if your that worried about looking cool without being laughed at.... then i pity you

yea i agree with that do what you need to feel safe. At the end of last year my hips were black and purple and blue....and i couldnt even sit down at school...so this year i got myself some padded hip pants. Honestly...i probly wouldnt want to wear a full face hlemet b/c i love the field of the wind on my face....and not to mention that i already own a helmet and i dont have the money to be springin for another. Tell me how you like it

borrowed one from a friend when my chin strap on another helmet busted.... was lightweight for a fullface, especially if you're used to dhMB

They one place I definitely would feel safer with a full-face is in the glades. I've gotten close to kissing a few trees, and I'm thinking an actual hit would not feel too nice. You make a good point about speed down the slopes though also. I've had some good wipeouts at speed, but I always seem to land on my back. It's kind of a weird reverse cat reflex I guess. And speaking of landing on my back. That puts me in mind of the fact that I started out on the slopes in a cold weather motorcycle jacket. The thing was useless when it came to keeping snow from going up my back, but the elbow, shoulder, and back armoring were great! I'd actually like to sew some of that stuff in my current ski jacket for the best of both worlds.
