i spotted this web site and had to see if they had my first computer and sure enough there it is...TRS80 with 4k of ram and no storage device. You'd spend hours typing in a BASIC program (the whole time the keys would be sticking down because of the crappy keyboard) that moved blocks around the screen and when you shut it off all your work was gone (they offered an optional audio tape storage device but we didn't have that). It hooked to your TV. I was 10.

wow, thats great. I couldn't imagine learning to program on something with no storage ... thats like building legos only to know that they'd get smashed as soon as you were done. And I thought learning on a TI83 calculator was rough ...

I was a burgertime guy myself. mmmm the goodness!
lol that was my first computer too, I also didn't have the storage tape....
I remember sitting there for hours typing code to program this speed boat game (from a code book) spent about 8 hours doing it. I told my parents not to turn it off when I went to school..
lo and behold i get home from school and it was off I guess my Dad had forgotten and switched off the TV and power. He is kind of a power nazi always turning off light and such.. I was devastated! :o
