It looks like it'd be real interesting to go check out. Only problem for a competition is that I don't think it is really that long or steep. Google some pictures of it, I wish I could go to the world cup this year, not only for the competetion but to see a middle eastern country that is 'safe'

Ski Dubai has 5 runs that vary in difficulty, height and steepness, the longest run being 400 meters with a fall of over 60 meters. Test your skills on the world’s first indoor black run or practice your turns on the gentle beginner slopes. Skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels will enjoy these various slopes and snowboarders can also practice their stunts on the 90-metre long quarter pipe.

400 m is fine for big air, slopestyle, rail jam and cross.

might be a little short for fakie dh, and pretty much useless for chinese dh

No they didnt say anything about world cup being held there . Once I saw that they were featuring dubai I couldnt change the channel. Cool country. looks like the athletes will be treated pretty well even by american standards.

Plus is the hottest (not temperature wise) place on Earth to visit ... the Palm Island, tallest building (2 x Empire State Building), the only 7 stars hotel on the planet, the dinosaur park, etc.
and of course Ski-Dubai

Does anyone know if you can take tours of that hotel that Marius mentioned? Ive seen pictures and video of it, but could you imagine walking into a 7 star hotel?? I've been in the only 5 star here in WI and that was amazing, I couldn't imagine what a 7 must be like.

I have a National Geographic from a year or so ago that covers Dubai and how it's expanded in the last 10 years. Looks like a truely beautiful place to visit, but the mag warned of the 'slums' not unlike ones here in the US. But there you don't have to worry about crime as much as stepping in human waste laying about the streets.

It appears the leaders of UAE have done a great job of turning oil gold into solid investments that will leave it in good standing long after the oil is gone, which is much more then you can say about some of its neighbors.
