European Contest!!!

Finally what has been a dream for several years is now becoming a reality!

The ESS is organising the first ever skiboarding contest in the Alps, it is going to be held at Madonna Di Campiglio (Trentino-Italy), the third week of February (A more precise date will soon be established...)

It will be a 2 day contest, more or less organised in the following way

1st Day: Half-pipe session, Rail/Jib Competition

2nd Day: Big Air Competition, Slopestyle Competition

The modality of each "mini-event" is still to be discussed, but each one will count as 25% of the final score which will determine the winner.

It is therefore a contest which is indicated for the allaround-freestyle skiboarder... This is good because everybody will have a chance to win, as everybody has strong and weak areas in personal skiboarding skills

There will be prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd, but the aim of this contest is to let people know that skiboarding is alive in Europe...!

This is just a small "teaser" of the contest which is being organised, and if you have any question please don't hesitate to contact me at marcolo86@hotmail.com (via e-mail or MSN Messenger)

You'll soon be able to sign in for this contest in the specific page at www.ess-team.tk We will ask for a small contribution to enter the competition (something like 5-10 dollars/euros) because this does have it's costs and of course you do want medals don't you...? ;-)

Greco! can you share some statistics on sbol forum members - how many are there europeans (i guess its like five-seven of us postig more or less regulary) and who are they? i think it may ease spreading out the word for the competition...

McShane: I've posted the contest announcement on forums from skiboards.com, SBMag and GST. If you can spread the word to others it would be great.

It's important that we keep on talking about this, and as many people as possible need to be aware of it happening...

I say let's make this the central forum for this, so tell all other skiboarders you know to view it...

If you have any ideas for this contest speak up!

If you need help to find a place to stay in Madonna di Campiglio let me know and i'll help you out in the best way i can...

Oh just another thing: It's best if you start moving as soon as possible to find a place to stay, in order to book your stay and not have to worry about finding a place... (It's quite hard to find places without booking some time before...)

Obviously a contest can't take place without riders, so guys you HAVE to participate!!! :P

There will be prizes and it will be a great contest...everyone is welcome.

I'm sure some of you won't be able to participate because of many reasons... Please let me know in both cases, if you will or won't be present...

considering that im mostly concentrating on my skiboard company that should be coming soon to a home near you!

@Greco, maybe its possible to searc all europeans....by some soft or sumtin fro member section? if YES, then please post them here!!!!!

cheers for emailing me about it, i really cant wait for this! because i live in england i have to travel to south france for snow but my life is skiboarding and i will be moving to some mountains asap. And this comp is going to be so cool

i dont know any skiboarders over here, in fact i dont know any skiboarders personally so it will be good to get to know some. ive always skiboarded when my brothers gone skiing, so its about time i got some time with other skiboarders. Im trying to introduce a few more people into skiboarding so hopefully il get some people to come.

Even if i cant get anyone to come with me i will still come. How big is the skiboarding population in europe. It seems to be about 10 people :D . I would really like skiboarding to get bigger and for people to give it a chance.

no no, population(skiboarding) in europe is: some 30 for shure, but i dont know realy, maybe more, BUT--there is 1 big BUT--there is much of them who dont know they are riding skiboards, here in Latvia i first saw woman,she was skiboarding but she dont know what is skiboards, she just bought some short skis(she thinks so) in germany second hand and thats all, she just ride them!!! and i know here in Latvia is some 5 on snowblades..i saw in austrian Alps some 10 on snowblades,...but noone on real SKIBOARDS !!! so, then we will se how much skiboarders there are fo real! ;)

tayata, just a side note - i guess there is rynair/easyjet from riga,latvia to frankfurt. this might be of use sooner or later ;)

There are a few of us....I am a skiboarder from the UK....sunny Gloucester!

Have only been into it since last season so still getting to grips with it all and in the process of dumping my Salomons (gotta start somewhere I guess!) and getting some decent kit from Greco....Then I will be ripping up the slopes...Italy here I come!
