Hey G.
Hey guys and girls,

First of all I must thank G. for the fastest feedback ever when mailing someone with doubts. And kindness too.
So, companies learn, thats how to get clients!

anyway, I'm Robalo. New to the forum.
not new in the ski, snowblade, snowboard or even skiboard world.

about me:
I ski for 8 years now,
snowblade for 3,
tried snowboard - dont really like to have both feet on one board,
and skiboard 1year.

Needless to say that skiboard got me completely.
I love to ski, love the way you need lots of technique to make a good descent. but i love skiboard too. It's soooo much fun.

I'm 26 years old, love sports(swim) and photography, etc...
I'm 1.60 m I believe thats 5.3 feet (height)
don't know my weight, but I'm a sporty guy.

So, to describe my ski level:
I go to Andorra every year for a week or so to ski. And it has been a few years that I've been using skiboards, or snowblades.

I have one serious problem, I'm not very afraid of snow, or heights. If theres a trail in front of me, it's down... there I go...

In Europe the trails descriptions are:
green - easy, sometimes even going up :P
blue - easy
red - medium
black - medium / hard
competition - you can go in only with a ski teacher.

well, blacks and competition ones might be a bit tricky, but nothing too hard.
I do them with skis. Now, with snowblades and skiboards, turning is faster, so they become easier.

describing my ski:
well, I dont do parks. I do like the ocasional jump on the road... but rails, pipes, etc dont make my day. dont know why. but i prefer trail speedy and carving.
so, I'm more of a trail, road, piste guy. I do like to go fast (my fast) meaning, I dont go straight ahead, I curve, I carve, long carve, small turns, all those kinds.
so, it's speed, but not so much speed like going straight down.
anyway, if i fall, oh damn... ill be sliding wayyyy down. usually, i dont. but it always happens.
and its cool to eat some snow.

I do enjoy skiboarding style, it's like ski, it's like snowboard, just gliding through the mountains, so much freedom, fresh and open air in the face.... *sights*... I miss that....

------

so, thats me, what i do like and dislike. my style, my way. and i need a pair of good skiboards.

I'm writing here, now, because in one of my searches I found Revel8, mailed Greco with some questions (not describing as much as I'm doing here) and he said the best skiboards for me were:
Tanhos (90), Allz (94) and the BWP (98).

I know, G. is the man, and you never contest him. I'm not doing that. but, since I didnt described myself like im doing now, I decided to explain everything.. and ask for more opinions.

I agree with G. love the tanshos and believe they would be the best fit for me.
the Allz - didnt knew them - they seem ok - but i would like a little feedback about these.
the BWP - seem awesome - though Ive used some 99cm before... they are ok, but probably a bit big for my height.

thats it. so send some opinions.

thanks.

PS: I do like rollerblading, and im quite good at it. but again, no parks, just in trails, speed, curves, some trail (track) tricks, small jump, etc.

PS2: I usually dont use forums, but since I enjoyed so much reading this one, i decided to participate, and i tend to make it actively.

PS3: I didnt knew Revel8, but i found the forum, then the revel8 site, then the boards. I had no idea how good they were. but, as all this is so friendly, well explained, board designs, and so on, and so on... that Im preferring revel8 to any other brand right now.

EDIT PS4 - I really do prefer not releasable bindings. and i like those big, long, sliding, hard on leg muscles stops... where you slide for several meters before you get to a real stop. (at least in those crappy rented skis I use to ride) :P

another edit, sorry:

i would like to do some offpiste too. Ive tried to, but I dont know how. i always get snow to my knees and stop :P

anyway... ill do that someday.

I went to Vallnord and Grandvaleria this past March, hitting all over the mountain. For your height, BWPs would be the way to go for best all-around mountain treking. I'm 5'5 and 170lbs and used 110s when I was there.

You want something that can tackle anything from a warm winter to a heavy powder dumping, which all happens in Andorra. At nost northern mountain of Vallnord, it was pure powder while the more southern mountain of Vallnord was mainly ice on the same day. Grandvaleria that same week was warm with conditions varying from ice to slush, depending on which part you were on.

With how much mountains vary in that area, I would go with BWPs.

yeap, those are pretty much the conditions experienced in granvalira. ICE and SLUSH.
its hard to get a good snow.

I love the ice part...
not so much about the slush...

thx for your opinion

...... reconsidering my options...

I was going to say Revolts 105s because you said you enjoyed the mountain more then the park, and speed, and carving.

You sound like you would enjoy the BWPs. They are great all around and can turn sharper then the larger boards. Because you say you are a shorter guy.....I would give that as my pick.

I am 6'0 200lbs and am an avid fan of the BWP because of its great turning, and transition into the terrain parks.

BWP should be a good choice compared to your height and your style, but if you are going mainly on piste, check also the loken apetorch (http://www.skiboardsonline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=loken_apetorch&Category_Code=loken_skiboards) they are about the same size of BWP but should be a little stiffer ;)

@Greco:
Just noticed that Bombers are not available for ApeTorch, is that right?

You are my height. I ride BWPs, which I find great, I used to ride 90cm but found them to be not so good once you want to do more. But my 90cm were not Revel8 quality!! The Tanshos could be a good choice too, they would be more like skating, BWPs would give extra speed, stability, and float in powder.

I think the BWPs would be best choice and if you want no-release bindings I wouldn't go longer than BWPs.

Yeach i reckon BWP, or the Loken apetorch.

BWP because they're really good for turning, and will be good for going fast at your height.
