Ok here's a question for all of us out of shape individuals who may have a few extra pounds on and who still get winded climbing a ton of stairs at the mountain...
What leg exercises do you do to help guard against thigh burn that usually creeps in about the 4th or 5th run?
I'd like to start now since my season won't really start till January
This question is not for the AF models who don't have this problem - lol.
I'm interested to see how my legs hold up this year compared to last year since I've dropped another 50lbs or so.

Check ou the "preventing injuries" thread that Mark started for some good ideas.

Congrats on dropping 50lbs. I think you'll feel a big difference because of that and feel less muscle fatigue.
And if you're losing that much weight, I'm sure you are doing the kinds of conditioning that's beneficial.

Wow rock on man! I as well have lost about 50lbs since last season and can't wait to feel the difference. I've been biking a lot so that'll build up some stamina in my legs, but I also do wall sits.
Put your back up to the wall and slide down until you are in a sitting position with your legs bent at a 90 degree angle. Almost like you are sitting on a chair against the wall...just without the chair. Do this for 90 seconds everyday and the burn you feel when you are doing will lesson and lesson as you go. At one before last season I was up to 150 seconds and it helped big time. I need to get back up there quick!

My fathers done the same, lost a ton of weight because he was having to stop in the middle of runs to catch his breath.
Duno how much he's lsot but its about a stone and half I think.
As for thighs, id suggest doing squats, lunges and going on the rowing machine, they are all killers, especailly when you lift heavy with the squats.
