Who has seen it and what did you think. I think its funny we had the debate a while back with that guy phil over the beard shaving and it was'nt even in the movie. I have to thank Ben and Daryl. They gave me a nice section with the very little footage they had of me. And they also put a couple shots of my best friend tobin who died way too young from heart failure. He is the insperation for "Bad dogg films" But I really enjoyed the film, it was very informative and funny. I liked how you have to pause it to read the poems. The one spot I got lost during the first viewing was on the pretts part. I had to watch that section 3 times to get what he was saying. Maybe I was tired maybe I was something else. Or maybe I just dont understand canadian. But all in all I thaught bent did a great job with this . It was everything I hoped for. How did you guys like the big trap crash of mine. That could have been an advertisment for demon wear crash pads. It really didnt hurt my body but I destroyed my thumb. Those shots of the big rock"nitro rock" I had my hand taped up inside my gloves. It looked like I had a golf ball for a thumb knuckle. Big briuse that went all the way down my forearm. So if you have seen it let us know what you think and if you hav'nt, What the hell are you waiting for. Buy it now . Not later or the next day go to skiboardsonline.com and support those that support you.

I have already watched this a couple of times(once when I first got home then with a couple of friends that skiboard) I think Ben did a great job explaining the tricks and the video is very artful and eccentric it definitely got me pumped to go ride. There was however, one disturbing visual.http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh124/eldiablodenieve/Picture006.jpg

I enjoyed it in general, but I do have two complaints.

First, it was way too short for me. I could have easily sat and watched another half hour or even a whole hour. I don't know how much footage was available, but I wish each section could have been longer.

Second, I wish more tricks had been explained. The ones that were touched on were well done, and again I wanted more. From the info leading up to the release, I got the impression that it would be a more fleshed out instructional vid on some of the more advanced tricks.

Having said all that, I did really enjoy Ben's style of shooting and editing, and I would recommend that others check it out.

Hang on a second, '[does psychic ESP mind trick], hmm my psychic powers were not picking this omission up from a fucking un-released video, strange eh?

And are you forgetting that the beard shaving was the bulk of the 'teaser' for Buggered Mouse? If that was a TR on TGR they would have teared him apart, there was fuck-all stoke in it. I looked at the trailer and just went WTF.

Without knowing who Ben is people would just switch completely off from buying it and possibly skiboarding. And from looking at the first real comment it appears that the film has short-changed people, both in length and content.

Also note that the thread that you referred to, the tutorial videos I mentioned right at the start were reposted and are now stickied. This is how you help people progress in this sport.

And one final thing, the phrase "that guy phil". Not "Remember the post Phil made.....". Hmmm..... Low blow Brett, I'm disappointed in you.

Wow. I dont think I have ever encounerted someone as touchy as you. There was no low blow. I just thaught it was funny you got all hopped over the beard shaving and and it wasnt in the movie. If you fixed or redid the thread I guess I didnt notice. It was all that important to me. Im not sure how you got all of that out of what I said. Sounds like you have too much time on your hands to think over think things. It wasnt an attack so chill.

Yes there was a post saying that it could have been longer or explained more, but if you notice it was followed by

I don't know what this sounds like to you, but to me it sounds like it would have been nice to have even more, but even as it was it was still amazing and worth the cost. Anyways, I'll be ordering my copy sometime after christmas if not before.

Yes, my basic point was that the vid was good, but too short. I had the same problem with White Dwarf.

if that teaser could have turned someone off of skiboarding, we dont want em... thanks anyways! also very pleased to see you stoped making desicions based on other peoples experiences before your own! its a welcome change in you friend

cheers guys! Its a compliment that you wanted more duration! We wanted to set a standard with this film, and do it we had to cut out alot of tricks that werent setting pace with snowboarding and skiing today. Halfassed work will not cut it these days and we wanted to give you the best.

thanks for the reviews! keep em coming! but only if you`ve seen it ;-)
but thats common sense right?!

Firstly, as far as I was concerned the beard matter was resolved, it was Brett's comments that re-ignited this. Had he said nothing I'd not have posted anything and we'd all have carried on like happy little bunnies skipping through the meadow.

Now, onto the reviews. Lets start by pointing out Joe was so fucking stoked the other day when he realised that you'd included Exclaim! in Mouse, he was off the planet. Fantastic!! This is really great to see you support others, but looking past this to the actual comments he's pointed out some fairly big issues: creative angles, re-use of existing footage and tips not explained very clearly. The running length is also somewhat disappointing and this has been commented on a few times now.

I'm sure you put everything into making it as awesome as possible but looking outside the clique on SBOL (basically by the other R8 Team riders in it) you aren't hitting the mark fully.

Now It's very easy for me to just go 'fuck it' and leave you to it but to quote the scene from Dr Strangelove 'Of course it's a friendly call Dimitri, if it wasn't friendly you wouldn't have even got this call'.

I think you can do better and I think Skiboarding deserves better. If I didn't give a fuck you'd not have received this reply.

Make it longer, with more new footage and possibly tone down the babble when explaining tricks (or include a handy glossary section :) ).

These are essentially the comments from those who have watched the DVD, me I'm probably not in your target demographic so I may give this a pass until you produce something a little more rounded.

Take one of the tricks and re-do it with a more expansive commentary. Put it on YouTube with nice big 'Buy Buggard Mouse, NOW!!' trailer at the end, you'll be helping others get into doing tricks as well as really marketing your films and yourself.

Or don't. Either way it's your choice.

Love & hugs

As far as everyone saying its to short there's only so much you can do we only get to ride togeather a few days a year due to the fact that there really isent much money in the sport and for a lot of us its us puting our own money up and as for the way ben talks if you think about it you should get what he is saying that's just they way ben is. Now I haven't seen it yet but I just wanted to throw some stuff out there

you could tell Ben wanted a certain look and feel to the video and I think he put it together well. The length was not that long but as Ben said he cut a lot a tricks to make the video a certain way. Next time I would suggest just slamming a lot of the extra footage in the bonus section. I personally would have bought it even if it wasn't a trick tip video just b\c I like to watch riding videos when I can't ride to get pumped for when I can. I wouldn't have cared if it was a bunch of standard rails and boxes and just plain riding. All that said it was Ben's to make and I feel it was worth the money, if we want to see more we need to make sure we all make an effort to meet up with camcorders in hand and tape the shit out of whatever it is we want to see. Then the revolution will be televised!

I enjoyed the video, i liked white dwarf too.

I didn't feel the guy on the bicycle was necessary (sorry bike dude) but otherwise it was great,

I also enjoyed seeing a non-youtube version of the Romania footage.

Props to all involved in it's production.

and Phil, who are you ?

and what is the source of your rage ?

I'm not clear, but i think there aren't enough of us to be hating on each other as fiercely as you are, you are makin this look like a thread on newschoolers.com

so please, for the sake of all of us, please let it go.

New riders and children are on this forum

and i dont think this is the image we want to project, a bunch of foul-mouthed maniacs arguing with each other.

Good point. My husband snowboards and the (independent) snowboarding films he gets sometimes are just as short.
My hubby has grand plans for a film of our trip to the Alps in Jan, but even with a week riding the film will probably be just a few to 10 minutes long.

I'll reserve judgement on BM til I've seen it but lets not be over critical, Ben did this off his own back in his own style, let self-expression be, this isn't meant to be a tutorial film. Joe (and probably others) has watched it over and over and over despite those small constructive criticisms. The review he gave was overall very impressed, so overall it must be doing something right ;)

Phil

dont let it go... if everyone agrees with you you are doing something terribly wrong, so im happy you provide the other side of the coin. However to reinterate, I think its common sense to not pass judgment until you have actually seen the piece in question. Thanks for the friendly fire! the more the merrier!

and i think unbiasedly (bahaha) this video is over and above any other skiboard video trick wise... lets look at the actual content compared to the old... cab 10s, the most progressive jibbing (pretzels, flips off rails), backcountry bomb drops covering 60 feet, chest deep powder and huge channel gaps on skiboards??? in boomers and mikenicks time, this was all unheard of... our focus is on progression of the sport and im very proud my name is on this, as is greco... i wish i could be on both sides of the camera at once, but sometime i gotta ride too phil! haha

love

A tad unfair I feel, I haven't counted but from what I remember all reviews I've seen overall praise the film and I don't think they're all featured riders.

And no offence but I don't like use of 'clique' - this forum is a growing community that is on the whole very welcoming to newcomers.

Just my thoughts no offence intended :)

You do make a good point about there needing to be more of an indepth tutorial-like film somewhere, but I don't think this film was intended to be just that.

Just go my copy yesterday and watched all way through once :D

Will write a full review later, right now I've got uni work to finish :(

Not allowed to watch it again til iI've got another chapter written - gives me more incentive!

Its getting a big thumbs up overall though :)
