View Full Version : got hooked on skiboard
what's up guys and girls, just a newbie here. i wanted to let you know i hope that this sport gets more popular cuz it is really fun. i've been snowblading (yeah i know..) for the last 3 years but its mostly a once a year for me cuz i'm stationed in WA. my son and i have been doing this everytime i'm home and we both have a blast! we get those looks of WTF and comments from older skiers that they are no good cuz they are slow. i just tell them that they are skiboards(but i know they are not,but they do not know any better) and they are fast. and plus they are lot more easier to learn. i'm more to the groomed runs on blue and green trails but tried blacks d's with a slight success. i would like to tackle diamonds someday but i do not think i got the right board(90cmSnowblade)or just my skill/technique. I finally got my snowjam 90tt (a slight upgrade but its all i can afford right now) but just the comparison between the two was amazing. i cannot wait to try this one. I'm sure i'll be purchasing a revolt 8 later on when money comes around. My question though is what board is better for me for just mainly an all around ride? (no parks for me, i'm old:) i'm 5'10 and 196lbs. i've almost bought the 120's that was on sale on SBOL but i decided to wait cuz i'm not really sure what is the right board for me. well i hope i to hear from anyone and i'm glad to find this forum, seems like everyone here is pretty cool.

The Spruce 120's wouldn't be a bad choice, although Revel8 is the way to go really. You're about my size (a little heavier), and I ride Revolt Chickens. 105cm is what I've found to be the perfect length for me and I think it would serve you well. It would almost definitely help you conquer the double blacks because Revel8s of any size handle so incredibly well.

i was full tilt down blacks the other day. i was on the revolt cities. i would pick up as much speed as possible, lean as hard as i could and the boards did the rest. they dig into anything and as as smooth as a babys bottom, and throw you into the sharpest carves youll ever ride. no chatter no bliss, just glory

If you not headed to the parks, 105s would be great all around choice.
Yea, Revolts would be great, but the 120's are also a steal for $99, plus you might appreciate the extra safety from the releaseables
i guess i'll try out this SJ90 for now. i'll be skiboarding here in western WA. Snoqualmie ski resort in 3 weeks cuz they are having a military appreciation day and i'll definitely be there for that, but i'm sure i'll be going there before just to have more time with this setup. then hopefully by next season i'll have enough skills and purchase a revolt or ktp's. Plus i'll probably have my son try out this SJ90 too. i bet he would love it! then definitely upgrade to r8's
