waxing the boards

ok i've got a couple quesitons here...

1. when waxing your boards...what should keep me from just using melted down candle wax (done it on my current pair) or hair wax (did it on my old pair)

2. the purl speed wax...cold or warm...how warm is warm?

the warm wax if for temps over 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

the reason to use ski wax is because it's formulated to work for the application of making a ski slippery on snow. but if you had good results with your other waxes then go with what works for you.
