View Full Version : Line Transfer Boots

These were marketed by Line a few years ago as skiboard-specific boots. They are made to work ONLY with non-release bindings (Bomber, Zero, Snowjam EX2, Line FF, etc.). I got these in a deal as part of a lot, and have no personal experience with them. They have a three-way switch on the back of the shell for "freeride", "walk" and "carve" modes.

Condition: Lightly used, but serviceable with the normal scuff marks, etc.

Size: I am told they are men's size 9. Comparing them to other boots of known size this seems about right, but I can't find any mondo size markings on the outside of the shell in the normal places. Removing the liner, "275" (Mondo 27.5?) is embossed on the inside-bottom of the outer boot. "250-275" is printed on the liner itself and 26.0-28.5 is embossed on the plastic outer tounge piece. Maybe someone more familiar with ski boot sizing can help with this.

I would like for someone who needs these to have them...no charge. They might be nice for a young family with kids who could grow into and out of them, or maybe a guy or gal who wears this size and needs an economical way to get into skiboarding.

Give me a holler if you're interested.

Sounds like a mighty good deal to me.:p Unlike a few here my boots run a little bigger. I would like to see them go to a newb on a budget. Great entry pair of boots. Plus they are in amazing shape.

275 might be the boot size in mm.:p

I think that's probably right, but am not really 100% sure.

that version of line boot was made by raichle, which is now deeluxe, which are sold here but with more up-to-date features like moldable liner and metal closures.

Do you still have these? I'd like to pick them up for a friend who's just getting into skiboarding. Any idea on shipping to PA?

You bet, CB, I still have them. The shipping is included. It would be great if these helped your friend get into skiboarding.

Send me a PM with your address and I should be able to send them out tomorrow (Monday) morning UPS.

El Slurpo:

I am a long-time aggressive inline skater and I have just discovered the wonderful world of skiboarding.

I recently went skiing for the first time with some friends. I demoed a pair of twin-tip 168cm skis. I didn't take a lesson because I assumed I would pick it up naturally and would being throwing 540's on my first run down the mountain. This was not the case. Not even close.

I found myself clumsy with the skis. I couldn't approach a launch-box or a rail with confidence. Tips were crossing, the length was cumbersome, etc. The whole trip, I kept wanting to ride something that felt like inline skates.

When I got back from my ski trip, I got online and found SkiboardingOnline. Since then, I've done a ton of research on skiboards, bindings and boots. Thankfully, I found a great deal on a pair of Line skiboards with Bomber non-release bindings. I'm not working on a large budget.

I still need boots. I see that you mentioned the boots are roughly fitted or a size 9, mens. I usually wear a US shoe size 10, depending on the shoe. Does anyone know if this is an acceptable margin? Would I be uncomfortable?

This seems almost serendipitous.

Hey, NYN, sorry about that, the boots were shipped to Crazy-Boy1 earlier in the week---he has a friend getting into skiboarding. More than likely the boots wouldn't have worked for you in any case. I take a men's size 10 1/2 and these weren't in the ball park for me. I have found that there's not a large margin of error in ski/skiboard boot sizing...much like with skate boots, wrong-sized boots are miserable.

Coming from a skating background (I'm an ice hockey player) I think you're in for a real treat when you get to try skiboards. For me, these skills didn't translate easily to skis, but skiboards were extremely intuative...it's not a 1:1 ratio but it's close.

Re: boots, you might search this site, there are many discussions about boots, stance, fit, etc. Here's some helpful info about mondo-size fitting: http://www.skiboardsonline.com/html/deeluxe_sizing_info.htm

Personally I've tried all sorts of ski boots, even hardshell snowboard boots and am settled on the Rossignol soft-light boots, they're the best I've found for me regardless of cost and have a relaxed, upright stance which is ideal for skiboarding. Unfortunately, these are no longer being made and out-of-stock here at SBOL, which is where I bought mine. Somtimes these are available on e-bay at a good price. You could also post on this board and ask for some tips, I'm sure there are bargains floating around somewhere.

Good luck!

Bill,

Thanks for the quick reply. The soft light boots you mentioned are the ones I'm keeping an eye out for. Good to know I'm on the right track.

Thanks again,
Ryan

It's kinda funny how the boots worked out actually. They didn't fit my friends feet, way too small, but they do fit his wife. She also wants to get into skiboarding, so she'll be using them next season.
I had an idea that the boots from Bill might not fit, so I jumped on a pair one size larger on ebay. I found them with an hour left for the auction and ended up snagging them for $23 shipped. They do fit my friend, so he'll be using them next season. Pretty cool how that all worked out huh?!

That's fantastic, Tim, it is pretty cool. I'm really glad the boots worked out for your friend's wife. Hopefully they'll become hooked on skiboarding and enjoy it as much as we all do. They're lucky folks to have a good friend like you to help them get started, nice going!

My friend is already hooked. He was hooked after one day of using my EMP's. I'd been telling his wife to try skiboards all winter, but it wasn't until after he also asked her to try that she gave in. She had tried skiing in high school, and the experience wasn't good. She went all evening with only a couple falls and now she wants to get into it next season. She's the seventh person I got onto skiboards this year, and four out of those seven either have gotten their own gear or are planning on getting it. I can't wait till next year!
