Are you kidding?
Besides the qualified (and extended list) are many independent extra riders coming.
So far 35 riders are coming.

World Cup - Dubai 2008, is a breakthrough event in All Winter Sports, the First ever major international event held in the desert. Obviously such an event can't be missed by a serious dedicated skiboarder.

The course & park will be awesome. Many existing features (including quarter pipe) will be arranged for the World Cup by the absolute top experts.

May 22-24, 2008 - Ski-Dubai

its TOO EXPENSIVE!!!!!!((((((((((((( i was in romania without accreditashion... i went RO just to ride & have fun with other gyus wrom all over the world... to watch europe competitions... i`d like it... and surely would like to go to the WORLD CHAMP... but for me its impossible to buy tickets & hotel in Dubai... i`m not a rich man... it`s not a champ without supporting groops... only riders... it`s ... i dont know how to name it... but not a WORLD CUP...

Politicians are not called cheats, swindlers or liars. They are referred to as leaders. What something is often called is not always what it is. I'm not with anyone in this "discussion". If you want to make a statement, do it on your boards, not on the internet. That's all I'm gonna say here, and I know someone will have to have their last word, so be my guest.

And 1/10 on the troll btw...

anyway Dubai to me sounds like a great place to have a world cup of skiboarding...they r a wealthy city obviously..they have the biggest indoor ski complex that is smaller than any major ski resort.. it could catch on and be a hit or something over there...

im sure serge, and shu are going to be throwing down!for sure

I hope people that decided not to go aren't doing it just to boycott the WSA. Sure they had problems in Romania, but Dubai could be great! Sounds like they should have a much better infrastructure and organisation than Romania.

The way to fix something is to get involved, not abandon it.

I think local camps and comps are a good idea, but I don't think anyone should be boycotting the WSA.

We all like everyone because we all Skiboard, if ya don't like someone then so be it but no need to bash anyone here; we all have at least one main thing in common-we love to Skiboard and enjoy the snow on them! Just keep that in mind and remember it... we all are Skiboarders and we certainly are not all gonna like each other, though that is kind of hard to fathom since the majority of us haven't even met anyone in person on the forum!
Anyways enough of that stuff, done deal.

I'd like to know what country most skiboarders live in? Obviously not the US from where these events have been. But if most riders are in the US, then that is where the event should be, at least once in while!!!!!!!!!! Organize it in Utah, Colorado or Tahoe (Squaw or Kirkwood). When the event comes to the US then you'll probably get a whole bunch of riders for sure... I think anyways. I will consider it, if not I will certainly attend as a viewer & supporter!
But then everyone out of the USA will complain because it is too expensive to fly over here and get accomodations, just like some of us are complaining about going over to Dubai or wherever. Going out of country let along going out of State is nuts right now due to the economy!!!! Fuel prices are insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT, the only way to keep Skiboarding real is to have these events where ever it can happen and any amount of people attend. Each time it WILL get bigger and bigger!!!!! That is the plan anyways but man it takes a lot of time, man hours, planning, media etc to get it going so I do indeed take my hat off to those working hard to have the event and those who are making the effort to participate!!!!

Great job! Great riding! Good Luck to all!
Remember, we ALL like to Skiboard!

Actually its probably cheaper for us to go to the US and once we're there the $ is so bad right now that we get a lot for our money over there I imagine!

And as for fuel prices, I'm curious, how much is a litre of petrol in the states (unleaded)? Here its £1.07/litre! Crazy!

I am consdiring a trip to US/Canada next season if I still have a job in the summer - redundancies at our company coming :(

avg. prices for gas in the us is 350 some places are higher some lower but that is too the gallon damn you guys pay allot for gas that is if my conversion is right 1lbs equals 2$ not exactly but pretty close and i think almost for liters is equal to a gallon so you guys are paying like 4+ per gallon with the conversion.

yeah, so US shouldnt cry for prices .. they are still LOW ! ;)

oh and about places: how cheap/exp. is to go to Dubai - or to go to US... ? i think US is cheaper to everyone!

pinkkid
04-10-2008, 05:31 PM
Well come on over to the US!!!! that would be amazing to have any major Skiboard event here!!!!!
Just gotta decide where and when... I would not even suggest this time of year, way to slushy and don't always have much snow this time of year; this season we do but it was a superior snowfall! But still too warm out.

$3.85 is our average unleaded price, just on the local news last night. I paid $3.74 yesterday morning.
Diesel is $4.45- we use both fuel types in my family. We paid $4.19 diesel in Tahoe over the weekend, cheapest we saw all the way home was $4.02 cash price for diesel since that was what we were using for the trip.

Might be time for one of those hybrid cars! But the monthly car payments I'd have will just not justify the switch unless I could buy the hybrid outright which I in no way can!

shaggy433
04-10-2008, 07:50 PM
1 us gallon =3.79 litre
$2.11 us = £1.07

so we can do the math......
3.79*£1.07=4.0553
£4.0553=$7.99218524

yes we here in the U.S. should not be bitching about gas prices at all

*sorry but I hate hearing about our high prices here....I don't like it much either but there is nothing that we can do about it. Its just going to keep going up and up....

Roussel

How did the who's going to Dubai post turn into a discussion on international fuel prices?

I would love to go, sounds great, and I think the marketing department out there are going to do there best to make it a success since its probably realy rather important to them. Plus with snow made on demand they should be able to make what ever features they/we want!

Am still tring to find out if those of us who didn't qualify will have to pay for accomidation. I hope not cus I think that would make it a no go for a lot of us!

I live here and there is a population of 0 Skiboarders, Salamon snowblades are rentable at the place but they suck. Good thing with ski dubai is the snow is amde out of water left over from the Air Conditioning from the mall, meaning there helping the enviroment ith this place! I personally know the nguy who designs our park here and i can say we already have a sick park up on freestyle night which are very fortnight, Heres a few pics of the park-

There are many boxes, rails, kickers, even a quarter pipe available @ Ski-Dubai. We talked, weeks ago, all tech aspects with JC Four top Pros evaluated the features & tech details and all are happy.
Two experts will arrive @ Ski-Dubai in 10 days to arrange the best possible courses.
