Tip-2-Tip Urban Assault Tour

DEC 17th-22nd
so far myself, kevin boate, jonny white and ben wann(in select locations) will be touring southern ontario in search of it's burliest rails! We will be starting friday night in St. Catherines and we will be holding the "Kegger-Rail Jam House Party" at a location that will be determined.

Then the next day, we will tour the St. Catherines area hitting rails that Jonny already has scoped out, then continue up to the Toronto area for a special event(information will be released later on).

On Sunday the 19th we will go from Toronto, to Haliburtion(sessioning on the way), then crash at kevin's cottage.
on the 20th, we will tour from Haliburton to Barrie(sessioning, of course) and crash in a hotel.

The 21'st, we will session blue mountain and all its glory, then either crash immediately after or continue to jib the local rails.

and on the 22nd, we go home

you might be asking yourself, "why are they doing this?!"

JOIN US, get a car and some friends and come session with us, it will be insane!! if we get enough people to come, we will be sure to have a contest here and there throughout the tour.

so they ask me(before they buy from me skiboards) if they will do that stuff, how long will be skiboard life then????

and i just havent ride such style - so i cant tell them how;who;which so on..

yeh its i match your trick association its basically one person does a trick the next person has to do it or beat it so on. i think there on like imyta 26 now. skiboarding should deffinatly have something like that.

damn... i wish i could be there.... im stuck at school til at least after this weekend...

and the tour has been concluded! the kids are on there way home, with there bodies bruised but there spirits high.....

to begin, let me just say that this... trip... went.... off.....

JD White met up with Bailey and Kev (the pirate twins of the north) in niagra falls for urban assaults and MADNESS. A perfect urban double kink right by niagra falls was torn apart by all three after a few hectic tumbles.... the setup was smooth, and the rail was cleaned and on film.... check.

The three wise men slowly began making there way up to bowmanville to meet b-dubz (myself) and ALP (who was crashing at my place)

Me and ALP just recieved our mix boards and were extremely excited to put them to work, so we crammed in the car and were off to haliburton.

The trip was hectic, and the boys were slowly becoming stinky from hiking and the lack of showers, but what can you do, it's an assault tour, and thats just what happens.

As we trekked further and further north, the snow piled higher and higher and the smiles on our face widened and widened...

new mix boards? check
tons of snow? check

So we rolled into the ghost town of haliburton at 2 o clock on sunday night.... dealt with an angry bat noise and a backcountry hike to kevins cabin, dropped off what wasnt needed, and tore our way back to the spots where the rails were at....

the first rail was an INCREDIBLE 35 foot rail over stairs... we couldnt get the stair count, but it was amazing... for anyone who's seen the dwarf, it is almost exactly like the back cover rail, except over stairs.... it was PERFECT.... i strapped into my boards... grabbed onto the bumper and guinea pigged it with a lipslide, and attempted a few 270 outs of the lips.....

(if i may say something here, this was my first urban mission on the mix boards, and they were SICK..... once i get them on a mountain i will give a full review, but these boards are everything that i needed in the urban aspect of my design.... perfect speed, perfectly stable, the shape is great, and the flex is perfect! that being said, on with the show)

ALP was the next to step to the rail on his ALP's... fitted with a SICK pair of new bombers.....he cleaned this rail with no problems and tossed a luikang disaster, and attempted a few 270's off as well.

The Pirates stepped up of course and were cleaning the rail with EASE.... Long John Bailey stepped onto the BWP's and was MURDERING the rail with his effortless style.... were stoked to see this kid on the mix team, he's gonna do really good things...

Kev stepped after driving for the car 'push-ins' for the whole night, and killed the rail like it was no problem... JD also murdered the rail, coming off switch with a TON of speed and perfect style....

By now the sun was coming up and we were hungry and cold... we rolled up to a subway at 7am, ate, trekked to the cabin, jumped in the bunks and crashed in our respective beds through the entire time the sun was up.

When we woke, it was 4 in the afternoon and the sun had already gone down... whats that mean? of course, another urban mission.... this rail was a nice 13 stair set up over a nice big drop.... we trekked out again in the -14 weather and began the mission....

After a few bits of car and lighting troubles, the session had begun..... I was the first to guinea pig this rail again, and without a decent inrun or speed i had my share of falls and screaming curses into the night..... with an unintentional backslide down the rail and a checked tailbone, i decided to bench it due to the slow set up....

Kev tried the rail with his skis and was greasing her in no time, bailey also stepped with skis and had no trouble... first time... stomped.

So jonny was the last to hit it, and he was taking a chance with the slow set up and tough it out on the skiboards.... with a little pushing help from kevin, JD GREASED this rail to switch... perfect.... kid is sick.... another mission, complete...

we decided to call it an early night and head into bed as soon as we could, so that we could get to blue mountain as early as possible...... Like usual, that didnt happen and we got to collingwood and blue at around 1 o clock.... and once again! the session had begun....

we all took out skis in the morning and hit the park..... ALP had disasters on the downkink box.... perfect 270 on 270 off, and tail butters into a nice little nosepress on the flat box.... huge lipslides on the urban setup, huge blunt grabs on the wedge in the pipe, and more... this kid can kill it on skiboards and skis

K was working on his 270's onto the downkink box, and switchups, and had a pretty good day! kid was killing the trapazoid rail as well as 270ing on and off the box, lipsliding all the downslopers, and basically just shredding with his sweet gangster style....

I was working on unnatural disasters on the downkink box, allyoop 180's with reverse inside safety's over the downsloping rail, and just lipslides and all the usual goodness on the other jibs!

Bailey was killing it. 270's onto the downslope rail, the smoothest lipslides i've seen and more.... he definatly had mvp of the session.....

On the chair rides up, we all discussed the importance of being able to rip on skis and skiboards and how that makes you a more all around rider, its extremely vital, and to be able to go back and forth with ease is definatly a skill that we are all trying to be profficient on

AND THEN, the skiboards came.....

We basically hung out on the flat box, and got nuts.... kev had a 270 on, blindside switchup 270 off STOMPED, and i had a 270 on, 450 off..... bailey was ripping the 270's all over the place and was killing the lipslides on his shortboards.....

We also got to hang out and talk to veteren skiboard pro ryan markham...

AFTER THAT! we basically just rolled into a hotel, talked about the sport, life, pirates, missouri, raab himself, rochester and more, accompanied of course by a big box of b'oh.

what a trip.

on a side note...
i got the chance to ride some ALPs, and surprise surprise.. my new favorite board of all time
