View Full Version : Skiboard suggestions? Line? Head? Something else?

I've currently have a pair of Line Five-O skiboards with the FF Cam bindings. I take them all over the place: groomers, park, trees, powder, you name it. I find, though, that the non-release bindings get me into trouble on occasion. I've twisted my knees a couple times, nothing serious, but I don't really want to keep taking my chances. So I was looking at Line's new Reactor bindings only to discover they won't fit on my boards. So here's my question: Should I stick with my Five-O's, maybe getting something like the Riser release binding? Or, should I ditch these and pick up a new pair? I'm looking at the Pro 98's (either this year's or last year's, differences?) with the new Reactors or possible the Head Big Easy's. The graphite bases on the Heads appeal to me, but I'd really prefer a true twin tip. The extruded bases on the new Pro's concern me. Should they? Would I see a noticeable difference between a sintered and extruded base? Thanks for any advice you guys can give.

Seems to me like your best bet would be the following.
Sell your line boards on Ebay...Line skiboards get really high bids for some reason on Ebay if you list them with a lot of detail in your description title.
Mike Nick Pro's are selling for like $200 used, and Weapons sell for around the same as well. I sold a beat up pair of old Canon's with td-1 bindings for $108 I'd imagine that the five 0's would sell somewhere in the $140 range (obviously just guessing)
Example title..
98cm Line five-o 50 skiboards, skiblades, skiboard, ski blades, not canon, groove, mix
A title like that will draw a lot to your auction as anyone searching for any of those words your auction will show up.
Then take that $$ and put it into some new higher quality boards / bindings.
My suggestions would be...
Mix Adam Lynum Pro's with Spruce Risers
(This is what I'm personally working on getting the funds for myself!!) 110cm of pure Mix quality Skiboarder designed and backed with a solid warranty with skiboarder designed spruce risers and Jeff stands behind his product as well.
or if you want to stick with the 98-100cm length range then...
Mix Ben Wannamaker Pro 99.5cm (stiffer) or Mix Fusion 99.5cm (different fiberglass and less stiff than BW Pro) with the Spruce Risers Same quality, same warranty, different length
Best bang for the buck option...
The 04 Canon M7's are currently on sale right here on SBOL as well as being solid boards Canon is not releasing an 04 -05 model (if not at all, they'll be really really late in the season Feb. ish at best and come out as an early 05 - 06 model of course this is all speculation based on an e-mail I received from Canon. The 04 Canon's didn't get released until around x-mas of 04 so they are still relatively new and were the best boards available last season)
Of course if your boards are still in great shape you could always just pick up the Spruce Risers and go that route too.
I'd stay away from the new Line's if buying new, while they are good boards and bindings they are using skiing technology that is transferred over to a skiboard. While it works, and they are quality products, there are better options out there for you.
Most importantly, you should purchase your equipment from SBOL and help grow the sport. Not only is SBOL skiboarder owned and operated, they have the best service around and truly go the extra mile for their customers. Not to mention they price their equipment good as well. You could shop elsewhere, but why when you can get the best equipment at the best prices right here.
Of course that's just my opinion and no I don't work here or get kickbacks either.
Hope this helps some

To be honest my boards are up on eBay right now. I've just been having some second thoughts about the whole idea and thus been scrambling around to make a decision before the cutoff to end the auction. Given your advice to stay away from the new Line equipment, I think I'm just going to pick up the Spruce Mtn Risers and hold onto my boards for another season. Specially since in looks like the Mix boards are all on preorder at the moment. My thought to get the Reactors was partly influenced by a pipe dream of picking up a pair of Line's twin-tips at some point in the future. But, if I'm going to end up with inferior skiboards just to have interchangeable bindings, that doesn't seem like the way to go. Thanks again.
