Hey guys, how hard is it to do the basic maintenance (waxing/edge tuning/p-tex) on skiboards? I've never owned stuff before last year, only rented, but I finally broke down and bought a pair of skiboards from this site. Now it is starting to snow, and I need to get my stuff in shape, and I'm not too excited about paying the shop (they want like 25 bucks for wax/edges) to tune stuff up for me all the time if I can buy some supplies for 50$ and be able to do it myself for awhile.
How hard is it to do that stuff? I'd rather do it myself, but I would be irritated if I jacked up my edges or something permanantly.
Does anyone have suggestions on technique or tools to buy? I've done a little googling, and so far I think i need an old iron, some hot wax, a plastic scraper, an edge tuner, and something abrasive to rough it up with.
I have a pair of old junk skis that the biding ripped out of that I will practice on if I decide to go the DIY route.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, like I said, I'd rather do this stuff myself than pay a shop all the time, but I would be really sad if I messed up my skiboards, bc I had so much fun on them last season :)
