Okay so if you are either trying to lose or maintain weight, a good way is to cut back on sugar. This is just a fact that I heard sometime in the past and has worked for me. This time last year I was 170lbs, I started running and eating and drinking less sugar and now I am happy with my weight of 135lbs. I have been drinking less pop and more water, just now, litterally two minutes ago I came to the realization that I don't even care about water being flavorless. I think I may have a good idea for anyone that cares. Here's my idea: just try drinking water out of a collored cup that you can't see through. I have been drinking out of a, I think, half gallon Bubba Keg drink container...

not exactly the same as mine (mine's light blue). I don't know, I'm a bit bored.

not only sugar, but also food in general
my mom has lost 45 lbs since late april just by eating less and walking a few times a week

Ah, a topic near and dear to my heart. Sugar. Absolutely required for life as it is all our brains use for energy but has also been taken to an extreme in almost any pre-packaged food from cereal to peanut butter. As an hereditary, insulin dependent diabetic diabetic I've probably read every ingredient label in existence and can assure you that if it is in a package it contains plenty of sugar. The USDA has a totally awesome and downloadable database that breaks food down in more detail than you thought possible. If you want to just search online go here http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ if you want to download the database go here for the front page http://www.ars.usda.gov/Services/docs.htm?docid=8964 or go here if you want to download the database directly for your PC, MAC or Palm http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/srch/search.htm I live by it. Be forewarned - it is huge. Give yourself a thrill and type something like "oatmeal" in the search bar.
