Alright guys, this started out as something simple and now its getting complex....so im making a full out trick guide with pictures videos and diagrams.

http://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/221589/

I know this stuff can be extremely confusing for someone new to all of the lingo lol, so i thought i would post this up. I know i had trouble learning the difference between bio/misty/underflip or w/e for awhile so i thought this could help out someone out there in need.

I WOULD LOVE to be able to get footage of all these tricks on skiboards, and be able to put together a simple video that shows them all. So yea, if anyone is up for that, PM me and we can start it.

Cork
A cork is a off axis spin that is leaned back, but so that the rider does not go inverted at any point.

Bio
A forward corking non-inverted spin. Note the lean the rider has forwards at about 360.

D-spin
Set the same way a cork is, but is more leaned back. A d-spin is essentially any cork where you become inverted. In all of these videos note how the feet will go above the head.

Rodeo
A rodeo is not an off axis spin like a cork, d-spin or bio. It is a spin with a FULL inversion, aka, the riders feet at some point in the spin go directly OVER his or her head.

http://media.newschoolers.com/uploads/member/videos/1149447399Abma%20rodeo%207.wmv (Yes, could be a flatspin, but it looks pretty vertical to me. Looks very close to a underflip 7 as well)
http://media.newschoolers.com/uploads/member/videos/1149449723Seth%20Rodeo.wmv

Flatspin
Flatspins are very close to rodeos. They are thrown almost the exact same, but the difference is that in a flatspin, the rider never gets completely inverted. Heres a way to think about it: A line extending through you from your head to your toes when you stand up. In a rodeo, this line ends up completely inverted at some point (although your feet can be somewhere else, like leaned back in a tail or a mute or something) while in a flatspin, this line never reaches true vertical. The line between what is a rodeo and a flatspin is understandably very blurry, especially when one considers tweaked grabs and such.

Check out Corey Vanular doing one: http://www.orageski.com/en/team/team_2_video.html

Misty
A Misty is the counterpart of the Rodeo. It is a spin with a front flip. Note in these how you can see the skis go OVER the persons head and wrap around.

Underflips
An underflip can easily be mistaken for a rodeo or a misty. Its an odd rotation: a 90 degree turn off the lip, followed by a lincoln loop up the hill (head faces jump followed by feet) to another 90, landing backwards. See niklas karlstrom in teddybear crisis up the step-up, or in X off of a small snowbank. Vincent Dorion also does these well.

Overflips
Baisically the opposite of an underflip, commonly mistaken for a misty 5. 90, lincoln loop downhill (feet face jump followed by head) to another 90, landing backwards. see mike wilson in ready, fire, aim or in superpark 2. These do look almost exactly like mistys.

Lincoln Loops
A single inversion, with no spin. Basically, just a cartwheel, where the rider flips to the side, doing a barrel roll.

For Grinds and Slides a good site to use is
http://toxboe.net/trickguide
It is an inline site, but shows the proper foot placement for grinds.

Please give the animated GIF Files time to load, it will be worth it!

This is for Frontside and Backside Grinds

All Frontside and Backside Grinds and Slides can be done while going backwards or fakie (which is called SWITCH) and spins can be added before the grind
-270 on (3/4 spin onto a rail)
-450 on (1 1/4 spin onto a rail)
-630 on (1 3/4 spin onto a rail)

-You can also butter(spin on the snow) into the spin to hit the rail.

When exiting the rail you can exit forwards(regular), backwards (fakie), or spin off either
-naturally = you exit the rail in the same way as you jumped onto it
-unnaturally = you exit the rail with the opposite spin as you entered it

Once Again Spin Offs are either
- 270 off
- 450 off
- 630 off

It is called a Disaster when you land on the rail after gapping off or over something.

Frontside (Dakota)

Backside (Ty)

http://i34.tinypic.com/14sgppe.gif

Fastslide
- either Frontside Fastslide
- Backside Fastslide
Fastslides are somewhat hard. It's a grind with only the front foot. The keys for this trick is speed and balance. (Mark)

http://toxboe.net/image/129/original/0/400

http://i37.tinypic.com/2dhaa2x.gif

Backslide
- Frontside Backslide
- Backside Backslide
The backslide is like a frontside, except that you lift your front foot, and only grind on the back foot. (Shnook)

http://toxboe.net/image/127/original/0/200

http://i35.tinypic.com/2vio3kw.gif

Tabernacle
A grind in which the trailing foot is on like a frontside but the lead foot is acid. (JoeyAncz)

http://i35.tinypic.com/fuvxv7.gif

Unity
When doing the unity, your back leg's foot is put in front of the other, so that the leg's foot is grinding in front of the other.
http://toxboe.net/image/128/original/0/200

Savannah
The Savannah is like a unity, exept that you cross the front leg over the back leg – opposite of the unity. This might seem very unatural to you, and also hard. (Hardcore)

Soul Grinds/Slides
DISCLAiMER-While we technically don't use soul plates anymore, we use the names of the grinds as if we did. (Soul plates were an experiment that never quite worked out)

Here is some of the lingo

-When riding forward and spinning toward a rail 180, it is called Alleyoop
-When riding forward and spinning away from a rail 180, it is called Truespin

When riding fakie and spinning 180° toward a rail, it is called Inspin
When riding fakie and spinning 180° away from a rail, it's called Outspin

When riding fakie and spinning 0 or 90° (sideways) into a grind, it is called "Zero Spin" or just Zero for short. Its also called just a Fakie/Switch On.

Mizou Grind
Mizou Grinds can be done straight up or crouched down.
If you need help with the latter style just as JoeyAncz

http://toxboe.net/trickguide/mizou

http://i38.tinypic.com/w9cutk.gif

Kindgrind
Kindgrind is another name for an alleyoop(spin into backwards) topside mizou. (JoeyAncz)

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h306/joeyancz/kind-1.gif

Pornstar
Kind of the opposite of a Mizou. (Hardcore)

Grab Guide
-Created using a combination of SBOL/SkiboardMagazine/Toxboe/Newschoolers

Safety Grab

Probably the easiest grab to throw. Simply take your right hand and grab under you're right binding on the outside of the skiboard

http://i38.tinypic.com/n4t9u8.jpg

Mute grab.

This grab is done by crossing the skiboards, and using the right hand to grab the outside of edge of the left skiboard in front of the binding.

http://i38.tinypic.com/2h3y2dc.jpg

Mute Cross

http://i36.tinypic.com/m7qipk.jpg

Liu-Kang

Once in the air, keep your right leg fully extended straight down. Tuck your left leg in and grab it with the left arm.

http://i37.tinypic.com/1z6b9lt.jpg

Flying Fish

Once in the air, bring both knees toward chest. Extend your right leg and lock it. With your right hand grab the right edge of the right skiboard. Can be done opposite hand, opposite side.

http://i37.tinypic.com/2qxpy7m.jpg

Truck driver

This grab is done by having both right and left hands grabbing outside edge of the same skiboard (right to right, left to left) arms fully outstretched, in front of toe piece

http://i35.tinypic.com/1263e4y.jpg

Nose Grab

This Grab involves the right hand grabbing the outside edge of the right skiboard at the tip.

http://i33.tinypic.com/2enlwli.jpg

Japan grab

This grab is done by reaching your right hand behind your back and grabbing the inside edge of the left skiboard at or behind the back of the bindings

http://i38.tinypic.com/348r1mp.jpg

StaleFish

Once in the air, extend your right leg straight in front of you, locking the knee. Bend your left leg and twist it so its parallel to the ground so that the left skiboard is parallel with the right leg. With left hand grab the inside of the right skiboard, looks better at the tip. With right hand grab the bottom of left skiboard at binding under your butt.

Critical grabs

This grab is very similar to japan grabs, except instead of being grabbed behind the binding, you grab in front of the binding. So you reach across your body, grab the inside of edge of the left skiboard with right hand, in front of toe piece.

Toxic grabs

This grab is done done by crossing the fronts of the skiboards, then grabbing the inside edge of the right skiboard with the right hand.

Parallel grab
Reach over knees and grab the left foot with the right hand.

Blunt Grab

This Grab is done by grabbing the outside edge of the right skiboard with the right hand, but with the skiboards uncrossed

Crouton Grab

This Grab is done by grabbing japan with the right hand then grabbing the inside edge of the left ski with the left hand.

Rocket Air

This grab is done by extending both legs forward and uses one hand to grab the skiboard opposite of hand.

yea its a real thing, i saw some pics of it somewhere, its also kind of like an abstract. It looks really ugly tho haha let me see if i can find the pic

i looked it up and its on the sbol trick guide

Abstract (aka Yoda) - Once in the air, tuck your knees up while crossing your skiboards under you. hold them there as long as possible. abstracts do not involve grabs typically

- but i have seen them down with both skiboards grabbed....and i gotta say it looks really ugly imo

opposite of a farf, a royale, both skis back on edge.

One off the top of my head is the definition of bio among other things. This one also features videos instead of rough descriptions.

Hey Ty,

Nice work. The picture below your Japan grab looks exactly like what I consider a Stale grab for skating. Do you have a description for a "That grab" or a parallel grab? Those would be good.

Definitions (for skating)
That Grab- using left hand grab across left shin to right frame.
Parallel Grab- using right hand reach over (not across) both knees and grab left skate.

Pics

That Grab

Parallel Grab- wow this is a big picture.

Everything is nice, but i'm not sure about the frontside - backside grind thing.

Is it like that on skies and skiboards? frontside or backside is from which leg is in front??

In skating for example, frontside-backside is a side of approach to the thing you'll grind.

no we use "lipslide - when you hit the rail with your tail first."

Ty absolutely amazing work. Very clear explanations. I just want to add one correction. The video shown for a Savannah is in fact hardcore doing a backside unity. A savannah, commonly known as an alleyoop unity, is done by approaching the box or rail to do a unity but as though you are doing it facing up the mtn. This is a far more complex trick than a standard unity.
