That is exactly how I want my son to act. The smiles never stopped, no posturing or attitudes. Fun. Period. Actually, that's exactly how I want to act but if I do I'll get to the bottom to find the short bus waiting to take me home for medication time.

yup but when I am out I don't care what people think so I cover my face with a serious (r) face mask...then I can do what ever I want, no questions asked...

well mark, as much as I do think they were making fun, I think they were having fun...those smiles were genuine, and you can't argue with that. I think you can sort of see it in their eyes too.

GOM,

Believe me when I tell you, if you seen me yucking it up on the greens and blues with my girls or playing tag on the reds with my son you would be tempted to get a tranquilizer gun. We only have 1 rule - we can't affect others. We run over each others skis and boards landing in piles, I was stabbed in the face once with one of Hannah's poles and Tarou once got a fat lip when he tagged me from behind and I reached out to grab him and we ended up flipping end over end and I whacked him with my binding in the face. I'm not sure my wife was ever angrier with me than the time Tarou and I got off the lift, went down the wrong lead in chute and found ourselves on top of the Olympic Slalom run at Shiga. Tarou had never been on such a pitch before but there was really no walking out so we did it. Me in front and largely snowboarding backwards in case he got out of control and I could tackle him and him crying out of fear the whole first run. I made him do a 2nd run and Tomoko caught us coming down the 3rd time and Tarou was a raging animal by then treating it like it was nothing. It was a few weeks before I felt confident that all of my butt would grow back.

That's weak, when graham and I screw around, we try to get others in on the action...we got an all out snowball war on a "powder day" last year in one of the lift line...it lasted through the entire ride up the lift. it was great...We mess around with younger kids, we hockey stop spray snow, on other riders and when they get mad we tell them not to get tweaked and to get us back, that is if they can catch us. and we all have a good laugh. We do follow the leader man it's all about the fun.

Exactly.

I missed the memo where snow sports stopped being about having a laugh and started being about impressing people with how hardcore or gangster you are.

GOM,

Yea, it's all about the good time. I would suggest not involving others without their permission. Everyone is allowed to define what is fun for them - within reason of course. More or less requiring someone to join your fun or else they're just punks isn't really the best tact. That's why we only truly yuck it up when we have wide open spaces. All other times others take precedence. Teaching that sometimes means stopping the fun and being "dad" again for a minute and then picking it back up again with asking where do you want to go to look for the next fun run.

Well if they get mad then we stop and appoligise and usually have to tell them to chill but for the most part most of the peope are pretty cool with us and we all have a good time.

Take a break from the fun, be a dad, and when you are done with that, tell him to go and let him get a head start and chase him down and tackle him...if you could get it on video I would love to see that. lol
